Nicole Allen was sentenced to 65 years in prison, for the murder and neglect in the 2011 death of 2-year-old Logan Sherwin, whose body prosecutors said bore bruises from the top of the head to the bottoms of the feet.

Neither Sherwin nor Allen ever pointed a finger at the other to say who had struck the blows that killed Logan or exactly how the boy had been fatally injured.

Prosecutor Bobby Elmore revealed that the traumatic brain injury Logan received the day he died was the second one of that severity he had suffered.

He also spoke again of how the children were locked in separate bedrooms on nights Sherwin and Allen went out to Christmas or softball parties.

“She never let anyone see that child,” he said. “And she played and drank and lived her life.”

Allen gets 65 years for murder, child neglect

Allen was sentenced to 65 years in prison, the maximum penalty the law allows.
