Christmas stockings with the names of shooting victims hang from railing near a makeshift memorial near the town Christmas tree in the Sandy Hook village of Newtown, Conn.

NEWTOWN, Conn. — Newtown observed Christmas amid snow-covered teddy bears, stockings, flowers and candles left in memorial to the 20 children and six educators gunned down at an elementary school just 11 days before the holiday.

The outpouring of support for this community continued through Christmas Eve, with visitors arriving at town hall with offerings of cards, handmade snowflakes and sympathy.

"We know that they'll feel loved. They'll feel that somebody actually cares," said Treyvon Smalls, a 15-year-old from a few towns away who arrived bearing hundreds of cards and paper snowflakes collected from around the state.
And on Christmas Day, out-of-town police officers were on duty to give police here a break.
"It's a nice thing that they can use us this way," Ted Latiak, a police detective from Greenwich, Conn., said Christmas morning, as he and a fellow detective, each working a half-day shift, came out of a store with bagels and coffee for other officers.

At St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, which eight of the child victims of the massacre attended, the pastor told parishioners Tuesday at the second of four Masses that "today is the day we begin everything all over again."

NEWTOWN POLICE GET CHRISTMAS DAY OFF

Recalling the events at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, the Rev. Robert Weiss said: "The moment the first responder broke through the doors we knew good always overcomes evil."

"We know Christmas in a way we never ever thought we would know it," he said. "We need a little Christmas and we've been given it."

Thanks Rockin.

I can;t copy and paste, but the Town is overwhelmed processing donations and asking to stop donations and to instead donate locally in the victims' memory.

Newtown officials request halt to donations

Updated: Wednesday, 26 Dec 2012, 4:02 PM EST

NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) — Newtown officials are asking people to stop sending gifts to the grief-stricken community, saying they are deeply grateful, but can't handle the donation deluge.

The town's first selectman, police chief and mayor made the request Wednesday through an editor at the local paper, The Newtown Bee.
They say since a gunman murdered 20 first graders and six educators Dec. 14, items that include artwork, school supplies and blankets have arrived from around the world.
They say the small community's ability to process, store and distribute the goods was quickly overwhelmed.
The officials are asking people to temporarily stop sending items and instead distribute them locally in memory of the victims.
They say once they process the "warehouses full of items," they'll detail the best ways to help.

Adam Lanza Researched Mass Murderers

Before carrying out the Dec. 14 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Adam Lanza conducted research on several mass murders, sources close to the investigation into the shooting have told The Courant.

The Courant had previously reported that investigators found news articles about Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik at Lanza's Newtown home.
[...]

State police gave the victims' families, Sandy Hook teachers and first-responders an update on the investigation last week in which, sources said, they discussed the theory that Lanza was trying to outdo other killers.

The Courant reported last month that investigators found several articles about Breivik's killing spree in Lanza's room. Breivik set off bombs in downtown Oslo in July 2011 that killed eight people before moving to Utoya island, where he shot and killed 69 people, most of them teenagers attending a summer camp.
[...]

State police have periodically updated the victims' families as the investigation has unfolded. Danbury State's Attorney Stephen Sedensky has said he hopes that the final report on the massacre will be done by the end of June.

Sedensky sealed the search warrants that state police used to remove items from Lanza's house and car. Sources said that Lanza apparently tried to destroy his computer's hard drive in a way that would prevent investigators from retrieving any meaningful information about his use of the device.

But two sources said that law enforcement computer forensic specialists are continuing efforts to obtain information from the damaged hard drive. Investigators are also using all means to obtain information from Internet service providers and any other relevant entities to obtain records showing how Lanza used his computer, including what sites he visited, what research he conducted and with whom he corresponded.
http://www.courant.com/news/connecticut/hc-newtown-lanza-mass-murderers-20130313,0,4473768.story

Anders Behring Breivik was not the only mass murderer with whom Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter Adam Lanza was obsessed, according to a law enforcement source.

State Police investigators who executed search warrants at the Yogananda Street home where the 20-year-old Lanza lived recovered reams of documents related to "virtually every mass murder" in the United States and abroad, the source said.

Lanza exhibited particular interest in the October 2006 shooting at a one-room Amish schoolhouse in Lancaster County, Pa., in which gunman Charles Carl Robert IV took hostages and shot 10 school girls, five of them fatally, before killing himself.

"There was a lot of material on the Amish case," the source said.
[...]

The latest disclosure, coupled with evidence of how Lanza expertly deployed his AR-15 Bushmaster rifle in murdering 20 first-graders and six adults at the school after earlier attempting to destroy his computer hard drives, lends credence to the belief that he had been planning the deadly Dec. 14 assault for some time.

The source said that Lanza used what law enforcement professionals call "tactical loading" in firing the semi-automatic rifle, putting a fresh magazine into the weapon before completely emptying the previous one.

Although the technique is commonly used in the violent video games that Lanza reportedly spent endless hours playing in his basement, he exhibited a proficiency at it that make investigators believe he had previously done it with a real weapon.

"It's one thing to do it by pushing a button on a computer," the source said. "It's different in a shooting. You have to practice that to be as proficient as he was that morning."
[...]

The source also said investigators have had some success in tracing Lanza's movements prior to the shooting by using cell phone technology. Of particular interest, the source said, was a number of trips he made to the Danbury Fair mall the previous April and May.

"For someone who almost never left his house, it was really out of character," the source said.

Investigators had been handicapped in determining a possible motive for Lanza's rampage because he destroyed the hard drives of the two computers he used before driving to the school. Another source familiar with the probe told Hearst last month that FBI technicians were able to glean some data from one hard drive but that reconstructing the other hard drive may take another six months to two years.

Emails show history of illness in Adam Lanza's family, mother had worries about gruesome images
Nancy Lanza's emails, obtained by the Daily News, offer new insight in the family's medical history. She feared Adam Lanza, who killed 26 in a mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, would develop the same auto-immune disease that killed his grandfather.
It ran in the family.

Newtown school killer Adam Lanza’s mother Nancy told friends in emails and in private chats about a genetic disorder that killed her grandfather, nearly took her life and had already manifested itself in her son.

“Nancy indicated that Adam’s issues were genetic like hers,â€￾ friend Marvin LaFontaine told the Daily News.

Adam Lanza had been diagnosed with the form of autism known as Asperger’s syndrome, and a sensory perception disorder that prevented him from recognizing pain and caused him to recoil from being physically touched.

But only his mother feared he was suffering from the family’s black plague.

In hundreds of Nancy Lanza’s emails obtained by The News, she said doctors had no explanation for the autoimmune disorder that killed her grandfather in just six weeks.

Doctors found lesions on her brain in 1999, and Nancy Lanza described her illness as “like living on top of a time bomb.â€￾ But she decided not to tell her children.

“I am carrying the gene for this type of self-destruct,â€￾ she emailed LaFontaine at the time. “My diagnosis was not good. I was going under the premise that I had a limited time left . . . about enough to get the boys settled in. . . . At one point I was trying to deal with the time frame of about 12 months.â€￾

The disease went into remission, but she told a pal in January 2012 it had “flared up.â€￾

By November, she realized her son’s troubles were deeper than just genetics.

Just two weeks before the Newtown shooting, Nancy discovered ghastly and sinister pictures in her son’s room featuring dead bodies, but she did not confront him.

“One (drawing) had a woman clutching a religious item, like rosary beads, and holding a child, and she was getting all shot up in the back with blood flying everywhere,â€￾ a friend said.

“Nancy was disturbed, really disturbed, but didn’t confront him,â€￾ he said. “She wanted to think it over.â€￾
[...]

Nancy Lanza’s emails, some dating to 1999, also reveal that she coddled her children, particularly Adam, and was outraged by news of school violence.

After being told in March 1999 of an incident in New Hampshire involving a student attacking another with a nail, Nancy Lanza’s outrage hinted at her growing frustration over Adam’s troubles.

“That kid (with the nail) should be expelled from school,â€￾ she wrote in an email in March 1999. “(Schools) go on and on about their great ‘zero tolerance’ regarding drugs and alcohol . . . but go ahead and let a kid attack another with a weapon!

They will spend THOUSANDS of dollars on that child to keep an aide sitting with him . . . and then they say they don’t have money for one hour a week of speech therapy for a smart, quiet child with a speech impairment,â€￾ she wrote, apparently referring to Adam.
[...]

Nancy Lanza kept a collection of guns, including those her son used to kill her and commit the slaughter, but her emails made no mention of weapons. They also did not hint of the bullying her friends claim Adam endured as a student at Sandy Hook. Her emails also show that she was a doting mother, who threw birthday parties for Adam and his older brother Ryan, and made sure their summers were full of fun activities.

In retrospect, one email about her parenting philosophy was especially chilling, considering Nancy’s fate on Dec. 14.

“Parental bonds are formed so early in life . . . they are either there or they aren’t. It is a direct product of how much the parent put into that relationship,â€￾ she wrote.

The last thing I want is my child to feel like they are in prison at school, but I am not averse to a school with upgraded security that could be locked down to the level of Fort Knox in the event of a threat. I'm talking about 24 hour perimeter surveillance, remote controlled window shutters, etc. You know the little guard houses they have at the front of gated communities? Why not one of those at the entrance of every school, manned by two actual cops? There is no way to lock out all of the lunacy, I know that. But damn it is just too easy for some of these guys.
I know the first concern with things like this seem to be the money. Where will the money come from? I would gladly pay my childrens' school a minimum of $30 a month for each of my children attending. I have two there now and will some day have 5 attending school at the same time. Yet no one could tell me $150 a month to make a tragedy like this one less likely to happen would be too much. Multiply that $30 a month by every child attending and I find it hard to believe it wouldn't at least make this more attainable.
Our children are national treasures. Shouldn't they be guarded as such?

My heart breaks every time I read anything about the children and their loved ones in Sandy Hook. But ffs can the media stop bringing up that the psychopath had Aspberger's Syndrome! Having Aspberger's or any form of autism doesnt make you a psychopathic baby killer, being a psychopathic baby killer does that! There are enough misconceptions about autism and the media just feeds into it! My son has an aunt who won't allow her children or herself to be around him because he has Aspberger's, they might catch it, I'm serious, I'm not creative enough to make that up. But sadly people thinkthat way and every time someone with a form of autism does something wrong the media jumps all over the "autism angle",

But sadly people thinkthat way and every time someone with a form of autism does something wrong the media jumps all over the "autism angle",
I think the media has done an excellent job in the Sandy Hook case of educating the public on the fact that Lanza having Asperger's had nothing to do with whatever mentally went haywire and lead him to do this. They've explained it time and time again. After word broke, the autism community had an excellent opportunity to educate the public on Asperger's and they jumped on the chance and the media was right there in the discussion.

Like it or not, the dude had Asperger's. Ignoring that fact would be like ignoring any other of a number of facts in the case. Ignoring it would be like "hiding" it in shame. People would want to know why as he grew up he was perceived as "different" and all the other outward symptoms that others talked about. Knowing the diagnosis was Asperger's at least put to rest the thought of worse things and let a healthy discussion of autism in general and Asperger's specifically occur.

The truth is that we will never know what caused this kid to go off the deep end. Asperger's is just one part of who this kid was. As was his "feel no pain" condition, having divorced parents - estranged from his dad & bother, playing with guns and obsessive violent game playing, supposedly bullied, coddled by a single wealthy mom, and surely having mental health issues that are still unknown. People always look for answers to explain why someone is different and why horrid things happen. Sweeping pieces of the puzzle under the table is no way to educate or get answers.

EXCLUSIVE: Newtown shooter Adam Lanza taunted and beaten by fellow students when he attended Sandy Hook Elementary School, relative reveals

Newtown killer Adam Lanza’s mother considered suing Sandy Hook Elementary School after teachers turned a blind eye to beatings from his classmates, a family member claims.

The relative, speaking to the Daily News, claimed that mass murderer Lanza was taunted and attacked by fellow students at his childhood alma mater.

“Nancy felt fiercely protective of him,â€￾ the relative said. “She was convinced the school wasn’t doing enough to protect Adam. It made her irate.â€￾[...]

The parents of a 6-year-old slain in the Newtown, Conn., massacre are outraged that an absentee uncle is now capitalizing on the tragedy — and memorializing their son with a weekly taco night.

Lenny Pozner has been blasting his brother-in-law for representing the family despite hardly knowing Noah, an adorable first-grader shot 11 times at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14.

But his disgust peaked last Sunday after he came across a TV clip in which the estranged relative, Alexis Haller, claimed to honor the boy by having Mexican for dinner.

“He always insisted he [wanted to work] in a taco factory, so we’ve used tacos as a way to celebrate Noah,â€￾ said Haller, a Woodinville, Wash., lawyer and brother of Lenny’s wife, Veronique, in a Seattle TV interview Jan. 14.

The clip, filmed just a month after little Noah became the youngest of the 26 victims in the senseless shooting, quotes a smiling Haller as a camera pans to his wife, Victoria, preparing the meal.

Lenny Pozner responded with a scathing review: “Anyone nauseous yet?â€￾

“They are milking a child’s murder for all it’s worth to further their need for attention,â€￾ the father posted on his Google page on April 28.

“The blatantly self-promoting and inappropriately lighthearted tone of this video will inspire disgust in anyone who knows that Mr. and Mrs. Alexis Haller met Noah all of three times in his short life and had almost no contact with Noah or my other children,â€￾ he wrote.

“He and his wife have turned our tragedy into a long infomercial for Alexis Haller.â€￾

The Brooklyn-born Pozner, who has four other children and runs a Web-design firm, launched a war of words on April 20, claiming in an interview and online that Haller acted as family spokesman, set up a Web site and handled donations without permission.

He said Haller took a “a parasitic interest in Noah’s death, immediately realizing that such a high-profile case could bring him prominence and fame. His self-promoting actions caused us immeasurable pain.â€￾
[...]

He denied using the tragedy to advance his career and said he stopped speaking for the family after the Pozners told him to desist in January.

To erase some of the emotional scars left behind from the December shooting massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, an advisory board wants the building torn down and replaced.

The Sandy Hook Task Force voted unanimously late Friday to recommend to the Newtown, Connecticut, board of education to build a new school on the site of the existing building.
[...]

Students from Sandy Hook now attend Chalk Hill Middle School in the nearby town of Monroe. Part of the building was transformed to resemble an elementary school, and security was increased by adding new locks and surveillance cameras, a school official has said.

The school also enlisted the help of a comfort dog for the school children to bond with.

Sandy Hook's task force had considered other alternatives, such as renovating the existing building or building a new school on a different site. Its recommendation must be approved by the school board then by a vote in a popular referendum, before the plans can be carried out.

Connecticut authorities closed the book on last December's massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Monday without answering what drove the 20-year-old behind the rampage.

A 44-page summary of the second-deadliest shooting in U.S. history outlines how gunman Adam Lanza killed his mother, then stormed the elementary school and killed himself as police arrived. But investigators haven't determined a motive for the assault, which left 20 first-graders and six adults at the grade school dead in less than 11 minutes.

"The evidence clearly shows that the shooter planned his actions, including the taking of his own life, but there is no clear indication why he did so, or why he targeted Sandy Hook Elementary School," Monday's report states.

Lanza "had significant mental health issues that affected his ability to live a normal life and to interact with others," the report states. But it adds, "What contribution this made to the shootings, if any, is unknown as those mental health professionals who saw him did not see anything that would have predicted his future behavior."

There were no drugs in his system at the time of the killings, according to autopsy results included in the report. Lanza "did not drink alcohol, take drugs, prescription or otherwise, and hated the thought of doing any of those things," investigators found.

"With the issuance of this report, the investigation is closed," Monday's report concludes.
[...]

Lanza had "an obsession" with mass murder and "a strong interest in firearms," the report states. On his computer, investigators found a spreadsheet detailing mass murders over the years, two videos depicting gunshot suicides, two pictures of Lanza pointing guns at his own head, and movies and a video game depicting school shootings.

But violent video games weren't his only pastime: He also was obsessed with the dancing game "Dance Dance Revolution." He not only played it at home, he went to a local theater that had a version in its lobby nearly every weekend, playing it for as long as 10 hours at a time.

Another hard drive found in his home appeared to have been intentionally damaged, and investigators were unable to recover anything from the device.

And investigators found "a large number" of guns in the home. All of them had been bought by his mother, Nancy Lanza, who grew up with firearms and "thought it was good to learn responsibility for guns," the report states. Both she and Adam Lanza shot pistols at a local range, where Adam "was described as quiet and polite."

Nancy Lanza, 52, "took care of all of the shooter's needs" and "worried about what would happen to the shooter if anything happened to her," according to the report.

"The shooter was particular about the food that he ate and its arrangement on a plate in relation to other foods on the plate," it recounts. "Certain types of dishware could not be used for particular foods. The mother would shop for him and cook to the shooter's specifications, though sometimes he would cook for himself."

Nancy Lanza did her son's laundry every day, but was not allowed into his room -- "No one was allowed in his room," where the windows were covered with black plastic trash bags, the report notes. Adam Lanza "disliked birthdays, Christmas and holidays," forbidding his mother from putting up a Christmas tree: "The mother explained it by saying that shooter had no emotions or feelings."

One person described Lanza's relationship with his mother as "strained," while another told investigators he didn't appear to have "an emotional connection to his mother." But others said Nancy Lanza "was the only person to whom the shooter would talk.

The morning of the massacre, Lanza shot his mother several times in the dead with a .22-caliber rifle while she lay in bed, the report states. He then headed to Sandy Hook, where he had attended grade school -- but "as best as can be determined, the shooter had no prior contact with anyone in the school that day."

Four guns and more than 300 rounds of ammunition were found with Lanza, including the .223-caliber Bushmaster semi-automatic rifle used at the school and the 10mm Glock pistol he used to kill himself. Another pistol and a shotgun weren't used, the report states.

Monday's report is separate from a much longer evidence file that Connecticut State Police will release at an unspecified date.

It's blatantly obvious why they have found no motive.. Whatever happened to just being "fucking crazy" ?.......The guy was clearly nuts.

So, the long awaited answer is that there is no logical answer?

Yeah, crazy usually only makes sense to other crazy, I'm sure there is someone under a bridge somewhere talking to his imaginary friends and carrying rats in his pockets that can make total sense out of what this kid did, the rest of us? Not so much.

A final report released Friday on the investigation of the mass shooting at Connecticut's Sandy Hook Elementary School offered snippets of information into the life of the reclusive and tormented young man who carried out the second deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
[...]

In a heavily redacted page in the report, an unidentified witness told investigators 20-year-old gunman Adam Lanza hated his mother, Nancy, and Sandy Hook Elementary School. She volunteered at the school from 1998 to 2012, including years when he attended it.

"Lanza apparently felt that his mother loved the students more than him," the report said.

However, a prosecutor's report released last month concluded that Lanza acted alone and took the motive for the bloodbath to his grave.
[...]

Mostly, Friday's report offered slight glimpses into the Lanza household.

Nancy Lanza discussed her son's "disabilities" with a friend the day before her son shot and killed her, 20 first-graders and six staff members at the Newtown school.

Over lunch, Nancy Lanza told the friend she had traveled to New Hampshire for a brief trip as "an experiment to allow Adam to stay at home alone for a few days."

She traveled to New Hampshire on December 11 and returned on December 13. During the lunch meeting, the friend told investigators, Nancy Lanza "described a difficult life but gave him the impression that she was courageous and 'handling everything.' "
[...]

In text messages in Nancy Lanza's phone records, the mother expressed concern for her son while texting with friends.

"I REALLY wish I could but I have so much to do and want to spend a little extra time with Adam before I go," she wrote in one. "Also, lots of cooking to do because I like to leave him with all his favorites."

In another, she writes, "I was off to a rough start. Poor Adam bumped his head (really badly) and we were dealing with blood at 5:30 in the morning :) He is ok... It looked worse than it actually is."
[...]

Lanza had a strange relationship with his mother: They lived in the same house but communicated by e-mail, according to the prosecutor's report last month. He refused to touch doorknobs and changed clothes several times a day. He loathed holidays and birthdays.

Lanza and his mother frequently went target shooting together. Friday's report said "a stand alone metal gun safe was located in the closet" in the Lanza home. "The door of the safe was found open. The door and the lock did not appear damaged."

Adam Lanza's relationship with his father was equally strange. Peter Lanza told investigators that he would reach out to Adam via e-mail six to eight times a year, even though Adam stopped responding altogether sometime in 2010, the report said.

"Peter stated that when Adam was approximately 8-9 years old he told him that 'he loved being a kid,'" said the report. "Peter also stated that Adam enjoyed his time at the Sandy Hook Elementary School when he was a student there."

Peter Lanza said that when his son was 11 or 12 years old, his demeanor changed, and he became more stressed and frustrated. And the father said he did not have a lot of interaction with his son during the year preceding the shooting, with Peter Lanza feeling "his ex-wife Nancy was a contributing factor to Adam distancing himself from him."

An unnamed man who said he spoke to Nancy Lanza in the days before the massacre told investigators that she was planning to sell her house and move to Washington state or North Carolina. In Washington, the report said, Adam was to attend a special school he wanted to go to. If they went to North Carolina, Adam was to work for a friend of Nancy Lanza who owned a computer technology business.

Adam Lanza has spoken from the grave.

In an audiotape of a call Lanza made to an Oregon college radio station obtained by The Daily News - and vouched for by two old friends - the madman waved a giant red flag that he was about to explode almost exactly a year before the Sandy Hook massacre.

Using the name Greg and apparently taking pains to disguise his voice, Lanza weighed-in on mass murder by comparing “a teenage mall shooter” to Travis, a chimpanzee who became infamous after ripping the face off a Connecticut woman in 2009.

In doing so, Lanza provided a frightening look not seen thus far into the twisted logic and troubled mind of the 20-year-old killer.

“His attack can be seen entirely parallel to the attacks and random acts of violence that you bring up on your show every week, committed by humans, which the mainstream also has no explanation,” Lanza says of Travis at one point.

“I just ... don’t think it would be such a stretch to say that he very well could have been a teenage mall shooter or something like that.”

Those words, uttered on Dec. 11, 2011, did not set off any alarms with “Anarchy Radio” host John Zerzan, who is himself a controversial fringe figure.

Perhaps it was because the caller delivered his seven-plus minute spiel in a soft voice and with the precise diction of a psychiatrist — rather than that of a mixed-up psychiatric patient.

“We remember the call,” Zerzan, 70, of Eugene, Oregon told The News. “The only thing that seemed odd was his voice seemed kind of robotic ... but what he was saying made sense.”

But 21-year-old Kyle Kromberg, who attended Latin class with Lanza from freshman to junior year at Newtown High School, recognized his voice instantly.

"It's him," said Kromberg. "I talked to him every day for about an hour each day from freshman to junior year, so I know his voice. He's a very soft-spoken kid, but very articulate."
[...]

Another of Lanza’s former high school classmates, who last spoke to the killer back in late 2010, said after hearing the recording that it sounded like Lanza was trying to disguise his voice.

“Yes, I think it’s him,” said the friend, who asked not to be identified. “It does sound like something he would say. But he is talking funny.”

Asked to elaborate, the friend said, “He doesn’t usually talk like that.”

Lanza, who police said used the alias ‘Smiggles’ when he ventured into online forums where mass murder was discussed, talked about going on Zerzan’s show in a Dec. 10, 2011 post.

“I’m really surprised that I haven’t been able to find anything he’s written or said about the incident, considering how often he brings up random acts of violence,” Smiggles wrote before calling into the show. “It seems like Travis would be a poster-chimp of his philosophy.”

A day after Greg called into the radio show, Smiggles posted this appraisal:

“It didn’t go as horribly as I anticipated. I wish that I hadn’t spoken nonstop about Travis for so long, but I didn’t want to seem crazy by randomly bringing up a chimpanzee for unknown reasons.”

But Smiggles, touching on same point his friend made to The News, also critiqued his “failed attempt at having a normal voice.”

“I at least sounded less incoherent than usual,” he wrote. “I normally speak much softer and swifter, with less articulation, less inflection, and more mumbling.”

Danbury State Attorney Stephen Sedensky, who led the official probe of the Dec. 14, 2012 slaughter of 20 first graders and six staffers at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, said investigators were aware Lanza reached out to a radio show.
[...]

Zerzan said he was stunned when he first learned from Connecticut-based blogger Reed Coleman that he might have spoken with the mass murderer.

“There's nothing there indicating he was considering something so heinous and inconceivable," Zerzan told The News. "It was a year before Sandy Hook, so no one has any idea what he was thinking a year before…I don't see how anyone could have guessed that with what was said.”
[...]

In the call to Zerzan’s show, Greg did not sound like the public image of Lanza, the brooding and seemingly inarticulate man described by authorities who in his last days used only email to communicate with his doomed mother.

This ‘Greg’ insisted articulately that Travis’s lashing out “wasn’t simply because he was a senselessly violent, impulsive chimp.”

“Travis wasn’t an untamed monster at all,” the caller continued. “Um, he wasn’t just feigning domestication, he was civilized. Um, he was able to integrate into society.”
[...]

Travis, he continued, “didn't really act any differently than a human child would and the people who would use that as an indictment against having chimps live as humans do wouldn't apply the same thing to humans so it's just kind of irrelevant.”

Zerzan, who was not familiar with the Travis story, listened politely.

When Nash tried to “coax him back into his place of domestication, and he couldn’t handle that, so he attacked her, and anyone else who approached them,” Lanza said. “And dismissing his attack as simply being the senseless violence and impulsiveness of a chimp, instead of a human, is wishful thinking at best.”

Lanza (aka Greg) is also heard saying that what happened with Travis “brings up questions about this whole process of child-raising.”

“Civilization isn’t something which just happens to gently exist without us having to do anything, because every newborn child — human child — is born in a chimp-like state, and civilization is only sustained by conditioning them for years on end,” the caller said.

Lanza, a socially-inept loner who suffered from Asperger’s syndrome, might have been describing himself and his doomed mother.

Starting in Dec. 2009, Lanza began posting as Smiggles to Shocked Beyond Belief, which is fan web site for a video game based on the 1999 massacre of 12 students and a teacher at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo.

Among other things, Smiggles praised Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik in an Aug. 28, 2011 post for topping the bloody handiwork of Woo Bum-kon, the South Korean police officer who killed 56 people and wounded 35 more before killing himself.

Lanza, in a Dec. 30, 2010 re-posting by a user named The Mighty Wez, mused about the proper hardware for wreaking bloody havoc.

“I'm still waiting for a mass shooter who eschews 9mm (sic) pistols and instead buys an AK-47 pistol, 30 30-round magazines, and 1000 hollow points,” he wrote.

Lanza used a .223-caliber Bushmaster Model XM15 rifle purchased by his mother to kill the kids and school staff members. He used a Glock-20 pistol to finish himself off as cops were closing in.

Lanza, police said, hated being touched. And on Jan. 31, 2011, Lanza posted this jarring note on a thread called "body mods.”

“I castrated myself when I was 15 to rebel against society,” it said.

Later, in an Aug. 30, 2011 posting on a threat entitled “Are you a virgin?" Lanza apparently dodged the personal question and went on a tear, claiming “a degenerate capitalistic system results in a commodification of sexuality.”

“This enables the creation of a cultural notion that premarital sexuality is acceptable,” he wrote. “This results in sexuality becoming widespread.”

Smiggles offered more curious insights into himself on Sept. 6, 2011.

“I used to think I was asexual, but the primary reason why I thought that was because my BMI was 14,” he writes, using the acronym for body mass index.

That too fits the description of the painfully thin, 6-foot-tall Lanza, who weighed just 114 pounds when he killed himself.

Sad daddy is just sad. I feel for him but he says in there that he hadn't had seen Adam in a few YEARS, so I can't muster up a whole lot. He didn't have day to day care of him, Dad should have taken more responsibility for his son. Everything about this is just sad.

Sandy Hook ‘truther’ caught in Virginia with signs stolen from playgrounds built for Newtown victims: police
Andrew David Truelove, 28, allegedly took signs earlier this month from Connecticut and New Jersey that memorialized Newtown victims Grace McDonnell and Chase Kowalski, both 7. He also called the parents of both victims and said the shooting was a hoax and the kids never existed. The stolen signs were recovered at Truelove's Herndon, Va. home, police said.

He called the parents of both children after the thefts and told them the shooting was a hoax and that their children never existed.

Cops in Stonington, Conn. got a lead on the suspect after he bragged about the theft and sent images of himself pointing the middle finger at the stolen signs to The Daily Banter, a news and opinion website. Police tracked the image data to Herndon, Va., where cops surveilled Truelove’s home and then searched it Friday.
The stolen signs were sitting in Truelove’s living room, Lt. Jim Moore, the Herndon police spokesman,

The alleged thief has been sitting in jail since May 26 for a probation violation. His checkered background includes a conviction for abducting an 8-year-old girl from a schoolyard in 2007, cops said.

“We’re going to drive the signs to Connecticut and to New Jersey and deliver them to the families,” Moore said. “This was a very moving and very touching story. It’s nice to see the signs were not damaged too much while sitting in the house.”

The playgrounds are two of 26 to be built by the “Where Angels Play” foundation in Hurricane Sandy-ravaged areas of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut in memory of the children and educators gunned down during the Newtown murders.

So-called Sandy Hook “truthers” are conspiracy theorists who believe the horrific massacre was staged by the government to help aid its cause to impose strict gun control laws. In their eyes, Grace and Chase never existed and their parents are actors.

“I spoke with the families and they are very happy to hear that hopefully justice will be done, and more importantly, he’s off the street,” the foundation’s founder, Bill Lavin, said of the
suspect, who has documented mental health issues. “He’s ignorant of the tragedy and it’s scary to imagine that there are people out there that don’t understand the gravity of this tragedy. Not only the horrific pain of the experience, but to be tormented by these characters, is unsettling.”
Both children were among the 20 gunned down inside Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, 2012.

Truelove has been charged with possession of stolen property, and will likely face charges in both Connecticut and New Jersey related to thefts, Moore, the Herndon police spokesman, told the News.[....]
