Police are searching for suspects after a woman was shot and killed while walking her dog Thursday evening.

Police say 58-year-old Sheila Wallace was shot in the head while walking her dog in the 12300 block of McGowan Park around 7 p.m.

Some passerby found the victim while walking in the area. She was unresponsive when officers arrived and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's small dog was found unharmed nearby.

DeJuan Evans Arrested Four Years After Sheila Wallace Was Killed While Walking Her Dog​

A suspect in the shooting of an Ohio woman killed while walking her dog has been charged with murder, authorities said.

Cuyahoga County prosecutors recently announced a grand jury indicted DaJuan Evans on charges of aggravated murder and two counts each of murder and felonious assault in connection with the January 2019 death of Sheila Wallace, a 58-year-old medical administrative assistant at the Cleveland Clinic.

Surveillance video allegedly shows Wallace was walking her dog in Cleveland’s McGowan Park around 7 p.m. when she encountered two males, including then-18-year-old Evans.

“Evans stopped, turned around, and fired four shots,” prosecutors alleged, adding the victim was struck in the head and chest and the men fled the scene.

Investigators said they were able to identify Evans as a suspect in the case based on ballistics evidence in another shooting, eyewitness testimony, video and DNA evidence.

Evans reportedly was already in custody and serving a five-year sentence after he was convicted of an unrelated robbery. He was scheduled to be released in June 2024.

He is now being held on $1 million bond for Wallace’s killing.
