Two parents who were arrested last year in Fentress County following a Department of Child Services investigation have pleaded guilty to aggravated child abuse and neglect and been sentenced.
Jason and Jessica Klimp pleaded guilty on Monday after a child was found severely malnourished last year. The two were sentenced to serve a total of 10 years with no chance of parole, according to District Attorney Jared Effler. In addition, the court issued a permanent restraining order forbidding them from contacting the minor victims.
In February, first responders went to the Klimp’s home after one of their eight children collapsed while walking outside in below-freezing temperatures, the Klimps reportedly said. The responders took her to the hospital.

The 12-year-old was so malnourished and underdeveloped that she looked to be six, court documents said. Investigators reportedly found that she had only been fed pureed food because she “couldn’t keep regular food down or that she simply did not want to eat at all.”
The girl and her sister had been adopted by the Klimps in 2016. According to a DCS investigation, the sisters were forced to sleep in plastic totes in the 60-degree basement without covers as punishment for wetting the bed. The sister was also malnourished, a doctor reported.

Why are people like this not caught before the children become so malnourished that they are near death and no one noticed? Of course they were probably home schooled, hadn't been to the doctors since they were adopted, family just thought the kids were just little for their ages. Yeah we've heard all the excuses.

We do not know that CPS was not contacted -

I do not want to totally shit on CPS because most of the time they get it right but there are still far to many times they fail to see or act in the best interests of children that are being neglected and abused in their homes.

I want the 12 year old to get the medical and mental health help that she needs that may help her not want to return to her parents home.

i sure hope cps doesn't deem it in the "best interest of the child(ren) is to be re-united with the so called parents brrrrrrrrrrr but in this case it won't happen as both children will be adults or near adults when those two are released........ i don't know how long they starved they played the "starve the kids" and the " let them sleep in plastic totes in the 60-degree basement without covers as punishment for wetting the bed", that is a prob they caused those poor kids to have prob due to fear and needing permission to go to the bathroom. those poor kids and not only those 2 but the other 6 children if they had to witness the abuse and listen to their sibs cry out of hunger, pain, being cold etc etc ... all 8 will need a lot of mental health help :(
