A Stafford County woman who had repeated sexual contact with her former friend's 12-year-old son was ordered Tuesday to serve five years and five months in prison.

Stephanie Lynn Frostick, 30, was sentenced in Stafford Circuit Court by Judge Michael Levy. Frostick had previously pleaded guilty to indecent liberties with a child and proposing sex via a computer.

Levy's sentence was at the high end of the recommended state sentencing guidelines, but less than the 20 years Frostick could have received.

The evidence presented by prosecutor Ryan Frank showed that Frostick was good friends with the victim's mother prior to her arrest last year. Frank said that Frostick picked up the boy several times and drove him to various places in Spotsylvania County and Stafford without the mother's permission or knowledge. Frank said there was sexual contact during those parking sessions.

An investigation began in Spotsylvania after the mother found text messages from Frostick to the boy in which Frostick expressed her love for the boy. When the boy asked to spend the night at his grandparents' house one night last year, the mother set up surveillance.

She confronted Frostick after watching her pick up the child in her white truck. She took her son and went directly to the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

In Stafford Tuesday, Frank asked for a 10-year prison term. He said Frostick did not accept responsibility for her actions and referred to testimony in Spotsylvania in which she said the boy was making things up.
Defense attorney John Spencer argued that Frostick deserved a much-lesser sentence than the one she received, pointing out among other things that she had no prior felony record.
