A Charleston woman has been charged with murder for allegedly letting her toddler die of dehydration after being left unattended for a weekend.

Savannah Weiss, 22, was arrested after her 2-year-old son was left unattended for three days, according to a news release from the Charleston Police Department. Police said paramedics found the child dead in the home, and Weiss confessed to leaving him in a Pack-n-Play playpen unattended from Friday to Sunday.

She woke on Monday to find the child unresponsive, police said. The autopsy confirmed that he died of dehydration and malnourishment, according to police.

Weiss has been charged with first-degree murder.

How could she possibly think leaving a 2 year old all alone for three days was in any way acceptable? What goes through a person's mind to rationalize that?

Then she came home on Sunday night, and the baby was alive, but died by the next morning? Did she not hydrate him or give him food on Sunday when she returned? (You can not die of malnutrition in 3 days, but you could die of dehydration, especially a toddler.)

She couldn’t have been bothered to check on him when she dragged her tramp ass home.

She was tired after her weekend get away.

Which means she's not been feeding him all along. And, also, how do you keep a 2yo in a pack-n-play? You keep him so malnourished and dehydrated that he can't get out on his own. Poor sweet baby, crying for his mom and she couldn't muster up enough to even give a good shit about him.

A judge has sentenced a 23-year-old Charleston woman to 20 years in prison in the death of her 2-year-old son in 2017.

Savannah M. Weiss pleaded guilty to murder. The (Charleston) Times-Courier and Mattoon Journal-Gazette reports a judge accepted a plea agreement in the case. Authorities say emergency crews found Malachi England unresponsive at Weiss’ residence after she left him unattended in a playpen for three days while she spent time with friends.

Weiss was accused of failing to provide food, water and sanitary conditions for the child, which led to his death by dehydration or starvation.

That baby was just a hamster in a cage that she couldn't be bothered with.

Sheet of plywood and a few sacks of kitty litter. Not speaking from personal experience, but remembered another article on DD, where the parents thought that was a good idea. It all slipped and suffocated the child.
