A police investigation leads to the arrest of a Love County couple in Ardmore on Sunday, accused of child abuse.
Thackerville Police say 47-year-old Chester Voyles is charged with one count of first degree rape.
His wife, 31-year-old Cynthia Voyles, is charged with one count of child abuse.
One of their five children approached a teacher at Thackerville Schools Friday afternoon, causing DHS to arrive for an interview with the child.
Kevin Collman, Thackerville police chief, was called soon after. "They contacted us as soon as some key phrases were said, basically, that set off red flags," Collman said.
The kids, ages four to 13, were taken out of schools and placed into protective custody.
Thackerville police then issued two arrest warrants and a search warrant for their house where police found evidence that supported the children's stories of alleged abuse.
Cynthia Voyles called News 12 and left a message in which she claimed she had no idea why her kids were taken out of school.
"Nobody's been really given me a reason why they took them," Voyles said in a message.
Voyles went on to say police called her husband a child predator. She defended him saying he was disabled and had never been charged as a child predator.
