An alleged child sex abuse case in Westmoreland County ended with a plea agreement Friday morning.
In 2022, city of Greensburg police accused David Landman of sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl who he was caring for.

It allegedly happened inside his former house in Greensburg. According to police, he used items such as a screwdriver and forced the girl to watch horror movies with him. Landman’s criminal complaint also outlined how he told the 5-year-old the scary movie characters would come to life and kill her if she told anyone about his alleged actions.
The trial was scheduled to start Monday. However, District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli’s office offered a plea agreement.

The initial plea agreement was for Landman to serve four years’ probation. Along with that, the accused was allowed contact with the girl, who is now 10 years old.

“We were extremely unhappy,” said Jesseka Chapman, who represents the victim’s family. “Four years is nothing. She would only be 14.”
That led to Chapman and dozens of supporters, including a group of bikers against child abuse, attending Landman’s sentencing Friday morning.

“She would cry every single time that we would come down here, bawl her eyes out, have panic attacks,” Chapman said.
Both legal teams began renegotiating the plea deal on Friday morning before the sentencing.

By the end, both sides agreed to seven years’ probation for Landman, and he’s not allowed any contact with the girl during that time.

He pleaded guilty to child endangerment and reckless endangerment.

He must be the father of the girl if continued contact was even on the table.
