http://www.wesh.com/news/28445997/detail.htmlAPOPKA, Fla. -- Police in Apopka said a 40-year-old man is accused of molesting young children at a church.
Scott Bohl was arrested at the Church of God Prophecy after, investigators said, he touched children inappropriately inside the church.
Bohl claimed he was just tickling the children, police said.
"He's got a number of allegations from a broad number of people and you know, he's going to have his day in court," Ed Chittenden of the Apopka Police Department said.
Detectives said they fear Bohl sexually abused a 4-year-old boy, a 6-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl.
Bohl was taken into custody at the church. He faces several child sex charges.
A man is facing charges after being accused of fondling children at an Apopka church, according to police.
Police arrested 40-year-old Scott Bohl on Saturday on three charges of lewd or lascivious molestation.
Bohl is accused of fondling a 12-year-old girl, a 6-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy. The pastor of Apopka Church of God of Prophecy called police when he suspected a church attendee, Bohl, was inappropriately touching the children.
The father of one of the victims told police that he witnessed Bohl touch his daughter four or five times on the butt on June 22. Police said the father told them that three of the incidents happened in the church sanctuary and once or twice more in the parking lot.
He told police he received a text message from Bohl’s wife later in the week explaining that it was an accident and was not intentional.
During an interview, Bohl told police that he tries having fun with the kids by tickling them and patting them on the butt, according to the arrest report. Police said he told them he often hugs them as a sign of encouragement in a platonic-style relationship.
Police said Bohl denied molesting or fondling the children and said he lives with children and would never bring any harm to them.
Bohl said that if any of the parents thought his behavior was inappropriate, all they had to do was ask him to stop with their child and he would have, according to police. Bohl did not think he was doing anything wrong and he didn’t believe the kids minded, according to the arrest report.
