BERKELEY SPRINGS, W. Va. —

Authorities in West Virginia are searching for a missing 15-year-old girl whose family reportedly fears she was abducted.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Riley Crossman was last seen Tuesday night before going to bed at her mother’s home in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
Crossman allegedly attempted to contact her boyfriend Wednesday morning around 5:22 a.m. and has not been heard from since, according to WJLA.

She is reportedly 5’6″ tall and weighs 125 pounds. She has blonde hair, blue eyes and a scar on her forehead.

She was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black leggings. Authorities say she may be wearing glasses.

Her family told WJLA that the FBI has not issued an Amber Alert because it is not a clear abduction and authorities don’t have a vehicle to search for.

MORGAN COUNTY, W.Va. — Authorities have arrested a suspect in the death of a missing 15-year-old West Virginia girl.

Riley Crossman was most recently seen last week, the night of May 7, before going to bed at her mother’s home and had not been seen since. The next morning she was reported missing.
On Wednesday, May 15, over 300 volunteers from around the region joined law enforcement on a search in hopes of locating Crossman.

Then Thursday, after over a week of searching, authorities found a body matching Crossman’s description, according to WHSV.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department has not identified the decomposed remains as Crossman, but reportedly said in a press conference that they are “very confident” the remains are hers.

Additionally, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department arrested 46-year-old Andy J. McCauley, Jr. in connection to the girl’s death. McCauley was identified as Crossman’s mother’s boyfriend and was “a suspect since day one.”

McCauley had been under law enforcement surveillance for multiple days before being arrested.

WHSV reports that he will be charged with murder.

It would be the last text message she’d ever send, and it was received the night of May 7 by her boyfriend: “I’m scared, babe.”

Twelve minutes earlier, West Virginia teen Riley Crossman sent a text, indicating her mother’s 41-year-old boyfriend had entered her room.
I hope there is a damn good reason why the boyfriend didn't get right the fuck over there when he got these texts.

Maybe he had his phone turned off at 5AM in the morning or slept through it.
Shame the victim couldn't reach out to someone more reliable than a teenager. Like her father, grandparents, even the mother who dragged that scum into their lives. Normally, a mother would be in the same house with her daughter a 5AM . If she had time to text, she had time to yell to mom. I wonder why she could not do that?
Waiting for more depressing details to find out just how many people failed this girl.

The text were being sent at 5am would be understandable.

In semi-relatable news, I'm currently looking at some property to buy in the same area where this fucking shit happened.

Jury gets case of West Virginia man in death of girlfriend’s daughter

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) — A jury in West Virginia is deciding the fate of a man charged in the killing of his girlfriend’s daughter, whose body was found along a road. Jurors in Morgan County Circuit Court deliberated for nearly four hours Monday in the trial of Andy McCauley Jr. of Berkeley Springs.

News outlets report the defense called no witnesses before resting. Deliberations are set to resume Tuesday. McCauley was on trial for murder, death of a child by a custodian by child abuse and concealment of a deceased human body in the May 2019 death of 15-year-old Riley Crossman.

The last known words from a West Virginia teen who police have said was killed by her mother’s partner came through a text message saying he was near and she was afraid, authorities said.

Riley Crossman texted her own boyfriend saying the man her mother was dating was in her room at 11:01 p.m. on May 7, prosecutors said during a preliminary hearing for Andy J. McCauley, the Hagerstown Herald-Mail reported.

“I’m scared, babe,” Riley, 15, wrote to her boyfriend 12 minutes later.

Riley was reported missing May 8.

Exactly. If you have no kids and make poor choices in partners, you are only hurting yourself. When you have kids, it can't be all about you anymore, you have to consider the well being of your kids, and hopefully put that first, ahead of your own needs or desires.

“He comes up behind her, forces that head into the pillow. Why is her underwear ripped? You want to talk about premeditation? Just pause there for five seconds. It takes minutes for someone’s face in a pillow to result in death,” Morgan County Assistant Prosecutor Dan James told the jury during Monday’s closing arguments.

Law & Crime
You know this fuck raped her.

Following an impassioned plea from Riley Crossman's mother, Andy J. McCauley Jr. was sentenced Thursday to the maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole in the 2019 death of the 15-year-old Berkeley Springs High School freshman, according to Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney Dan James.

Circuit Judge Debra McLaughlin also sentenced McCauley to consecutive terms of 15 years to life on the charge of death of a child by custodian by child abuse and one to five years for concealment of a deceased human body, James said.

McCauley was found guilty following a seven-day jury trial. The jury had recommended life without parole.

James said he was satisfied with the sentence from a legal standpoint.

"West Virginia doesn't have a death penalty," he said. "If there was ever a case to bring it back, this would be a good one for it."

Although the sentence doesn't allow for parole, McLaughlin ordered McCauley to register as a child abuser, placed him on 50 years of supervised probation and imposed a $5,000 fine, James said.

Commenting on the judge's decision to run the sentences consecutively instead of concurrently, James noted that concurrent sentences are usually imposed when there is some mitigating factor that might make some form of mercy appropriate.

"There's no reason for it in this case," he said.

Crossman's mother, Chantel Oakley, had asked the judge to impose the maximum possible penalty, saying she would never see her daughter graduate from high school, get married or hold a child of her own, according to James.

Oakley also noted that McCauley remained silent and watched while she was in agony during the nine days that she was searching for her daughter when he knew exactly what happened to her, said Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Courtney Moore, who worked with James on the case.
