I thought he was cleared? I'll have to go look that up.
I didn't see that if he was. I feel horrible for Relisha; you're right in saying it is like Shaniya Davis. :(

ETA:
Patrick Kelly, Andrea's cousin, believes she was killed because she knew Tatum was with the missing girl.

"[Andrea] was a beautiful person and she didn't deserve what she got," Kelly said. "He's a wolf walking out here amongst us. He’s a demon. She lost her life by standing up for what she believed in."

If Andrea knew, then more people probably know too, IMO.

Relisha Rudd was last seen on March 1. According to police, Relisha's mother allowed Kahlil Tatum, the janitor at the homeless shelter where the 8-year-old lived with her mother and step-father, to take her.

More than 200,000 persons of color were reported missing in the U.S. last year, according to the Black and Missing Foundation.

"Sadly, this is an everyday occurrence," said Natalie Wilson.
[...]
"I'm pulling at everything in me and there's nothing in my gut that tells me we're in a recovery operation. I feel that we're searching for a live person," said Derrica Wilson, a former police officer.

She is convinced Relisha could be anywhere - still alive, but not well.

"This case has really rocked me to the core. I personally feel that this little girl was sold. I think her mother sold her to Tatum and I think Tatum has sold her in this world wide industry of trafficking," said the former officer.

Derrica and her sister Natalie Wilson founded the Black and Missing Foundation in an effort to bring awareness to missing persons of color, a segment of the missing persons population they say too often goes unnoticed
[...]
"Compared to other cases, Relisha's case has gotten quite a bit of media coverage," said Natalie Wilson.

This could the case for various, including the fact that Relisha is so young, and a cute kid who was seemingly handed over to her abductor by her own mother.

"We're holding on to hope that she is alive and somewhere and we need to bring her home," added Derrica.

The sisters stress that the search for Relisha needs to expand far beyond D.C. and include more than just police.

"She could be anywhere and we need to help find her. We would like the public to get involved. Again, somebody knows something," pointed out Natalie.

They added that it's important to realize Relisha's appearance may very well have been changed, so, the pictures we've seen in recent weeks may not be exactly what we should be looking for.

Natalie Wilson said Relisha could have shorter hair or may be dressed like a little boy, so it's important take an extra look at every child you come across.

Grand jury may charge mother of Relisha Rudd
A grand jury is considering charging Relisha Rudd's mother with obstruction of justice. Shameka Young insisted her daughter was safe, three weeks after she went missing.
"She should absolutely be charged. She should have never gave her child to a man she just met at the shelter in the beginning that was crazy," said one mother who wanted to remain anonymous.

Parents at the DC General shelter weigh in on the heartbreaking Relisha Rudd case and the possibility that her mother, Shameka Young, could face charges for hindering the investigation as police searched for her daughter.

"I think she knows more than what she's telling folks," she continued. The 8 year old little girl lived at DC General's Shelter with her mother and siblings until her mom gave Khalil Tatum, a shelter janitor, permission to take her in late February. The mother even helped Tatum pose as a doctor in order to take her out of school. Relisha was last seen March 1st.

This case is breaking my heart..Thank you @Whisper for those posts..I don't know if Relisha is out there alive still, I did think if Relisha has been taken somewhere that she will not be well or will have her hair cut for sure... She is in my thoughts every day. :(

[..][...]

After scouring over 700 acres, there is still no sign of Relisha – but her family is holding out hope that she is still alive.

"I have a strong beliefs that somebody else has her...I have strong beliefs...but whoever out there has her...if you're scared...drop her off at a hospital..."

Now, police believe the man in this video could help clear up some of the mystery of what happened to Relisha – if they can find him.

Police said anyone who can identify this individual should immediately call police at 202-727-9099 or send an anonymous tip.

Since the asshat who took her has ties here in Florida, I find myself looking at EVERY dark skinned child.
Quite frankly, I'd rather her be dead than in a child sex ring. I am hoping she's safe, though.

Relisha Rudd’s Grandmother Speaks About Her Disappearance
April 9, 2014 4:39 PM

"I said, `Shamika, did you know your daughter was out of town with Mr. Tatum and his family?’ She said, `When he asked me could she go, I said no, don’t take her. How do you know?’ I said, `Because I just called him,’” Young said.

Tatum never showed up that Sunday with Relisha but Young claims Tatum called her the very next morning.

“Before he fled, he was like, `I took Relisha to school’ and I’m looking at my calendar and I know what day it is and I know school is closed,” she said.

Police admit they may never find Relisha Rudd

But the chief discounted public suspicions that Tatum might have been involved in child porn or child sex trafficking. "That is not something that we believe he was heavily involved in."

That's really reassuring....he wasn't so into child porn that I'd call it "heavy" (but he didn't deny the guy was into child porn at all....God help that poor child)

Will the parenting classes teach the parents not to leave their babies with strangers - aka "godfathers"? Will they teach them not to beat the ever living shit out of a toddler? How can you teach three adults to suddenly learn how to be responsible or loving? Or to have empathy?

I totally agree, but this is just a song & dance that must be done when the state removes a child from their parents. Because parenting your children had already been deemed a "fundamental right" we as Americans have, the state cannot intrude upon this without danged good reason (else they wrell be subjected to a strict scrutiny review upon appeal by, say, a parent). With this in mind, the feds created funding contingent upon there being an initial case plan of "reunification"....what this does is ensures that the state doesn't make any presumptions against the parents, thereby practically guaranteeing the constitutional rights are protected (if for no reason other than getting money from the feds). What this means to these cases is that practically every case involving removal of a child had a case plan of reunification....the case manager includes a long list of specific requirements for the parents to achieve (drug tests, parenting classes, therapy, etc) so when they fail any of these things, it becomes more evidence to use against them when changing the case plan and directly infringing on their constitutional right to parent their kids. Sometimes the parents get it together, but most times they fail miserably and the state doesn't have any question that permanent removal was the right choice. Soooo.....this case plan and list of requirements here doesn't mean Jack, as far as these parents getting their kids back goes....it's just another way to gather more evidence against them that they suck - and that the state will permanently keep their kids (because they have unquestionable evidence to survive a strict scrutiny review of them infringing on their constitutional right to parent)

If you guys could only see what I see behind the scenes with this case. The asshole who pretended to care about relisha, his name is Keith Warren. Turned out to be a perv. Not to children, though, thank goodness, but to the women also trying to help. Sent pics of his penis to several women. Propositions them.
You know the order of protection that grandma has against mom? Keith took Shamika to Melissa so people could beat Melissa up.
Recently, shamika tried to have Keith beat up. Yeah, Keith is an asshole, but he's also a wrestler despite having heart surgery (or something) last year. Not really smart of shamika.
The whole situation is fucked. No one really seems to care about relisha, just what other people are doing and saying.
The good news is, there are rumors that shamika is actually attempting to clean herself up. I hope she succeeds, but I highly doubt she'll get her children back.

No,
Thank you for the update. They say they found what they were looking for, I hope that means they have recovered her body to finally lay her to rest. Poor sweet angel, may she rest peacefully
No, no. The bag "had the potential evidence they are looking for."
Someone tells me through the missing persons page I run that that bag was too small to contain her body. But it was tied to rocks.
Oh, and it was on the shore before divers even entered the water.
So now we wait.

They are searching a river RIGHT NOW based on a tip.
"
Authorities were concentrating around Anacostia Park in Northeast Washington.

Police said a tip led investigators to the new location, which authorities said includes the Anacostia River. Police said in a statement that they received a tip “that potential evidence” related to the case might be found. Police did not provide a specific location."

@Valasca

DC police say they found no evidence related to Relisha Rudd during a search at Anacostia Park Friday that was prompted after receiving a tip. Rudd has been missing since 2014.

"The Metropolitan Police Department received information that potential evidence related to the 2014 missing persons case of Relisha Rudd was in the area of Anacostia Park." Police had said in a statement earlier in the day. "A coordinated and thorough search for the evidence in that area began during the morning of January 26, 2018. "

This past year, DC police dubbed July 11 as National Relisha Rudd Remembrance Day.

There have been no confirmed sightings of Rudd since her she went missing and no one has been charged with her disappearance.

Somebody needed to throw him in the fucking river with cement blocks tied to his feet, before he killed himself. Bastard
