A mother and stepfather were arrested after neglecting to report that their child had been severely abused.

Rune Star Springer, 24, and Travis Wayne Tillotson, 38, are each being charged with neglect of a dependent, a level 6 felony.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on March 2, officers with the Nappanee Police Department responded to a report of a child in need of service.

The child had multiple pieces of his scalp missing, ranging from 1/2 inch to 2 inches. His septum on his nose had been cut out, and what appeared to be fingernail marks were dug into his left cheek and scabbed over. Both of the child’s arms were broken in multiple places, and his arm sockets were broken to the point where the child was unable to raise his hands over his shoulders.

His teeth were broken from trauma and his lower lip had been cut deep. The child was also underweight and malnourished. His injuries appeared to range from several months old to a few days old.

Indiana cops arrest five people in brutal child abuse case

A fifth person was arrested Sunday in a chilling child abuse case in Indiana involving a boy who was found severely injured and malnourished earlier this year.

Annette Priestly, Fayette Robinette, Rune Springer, Jammy Stacy and Travis Tillotson were all arrested after a months-long investigation into the alleged abuse, FOX59 reported.

An investigation was launched March 2 when Nappanee police responded to a report of a child who needed help. Responding officers discovered a malnourished and underweight boy with signs of abuse on his body, according to the station. It wasn't immediately clear how old the child was.

The boy would have died within 48 hours without treatment and the child’s injuries ranged from months to a few days old, FOX59 reported.

Yeah methed out for sure, no doubts. The scummy bitch there def didnt lose weight between mugshots through hard work and exercise. Dying hair is a common method used to try and scam/beat hair follicle tests.

The fuck is it taking so long to prosecute? Weird.

I kinda like this Tillotson guy though, looks like comedian Daniel Tosh if Tosh was a child molestor

The mother who left her toddler in the care of a friend – only to be severely abused – was given a suspended sentence in Kosciusko County Superior Court 1.

Rune Star Springer, 26, was given a two and a half year sentence, but Judge David Cates suspended the sentence Thursday morning, noting that Springer had served 427 days in jail.

Springer turned the child over to Jammy Stacy in late 2017, saying she could not care for the child.

The boy, who was about 2 years old at the time of the transfer, was returned to Springer months later with widespread injuries that included (formerly) broken arms, a cut septum on the nose, broken teeth, deep cuts in his head, injured shoulder sockets and other injuries that were still healing.

The child was malnourished and could have died without care, according to initial court paperwork.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Brad Voelz told the court that Springer is suffering from severe mental illness and that two court-appointed doctors indicated they believe she was “legally insane” on the day the child was returned to Springer.

Voelz also said that Stacy convinced Springer “through lies and deceit” not to seek medical care or contact police.

Voelz noted that despite her mental condition, Springer did eventually call the police, “likely saving (the child’s) life.”

Voelz described the child as “broken and bleeding” at the time he was returned to Springer in March of 2018.

“Rune is guilty of this crime because, whatever reason she had, she delayed getting (the child) help when it was obvious to anyone – even a person with Rune’s severe mental illness – that it was necessary,” Voelz said. “She has to answer for that.”

Given the chance to address the court, Springer, dressed in a jail jumpsuit, declined.

Cates ordered Springer to seek a mental health analysis and mental health services from Bowen Center.

She was also placed on probation.
Travis Wayne Tillotson, 39, received a suspended sentence after failing to report that his stepson had been severely abused.

“I wasn’t thinking and I was scared,” said Tillotson. “You’ll never see me in court again unless it’s to help the prosecutor.”

Judge David Cates gave Tillotson a 1 1/2 year suspended sentence in this case.

Stacy and Robinette both currently have three-day jury trials scheduled in this case, which will both take place in April.

Priestley also has a three-day jury trial scheduled for this case, which will take place in June.

What? No....
Septum, arm sockets, missing scalp? A 3 year old would be able to determine “that’s not right, go to the dr. call the policeman” I don’t care how insane she claims to be. a flippin’ dog would probably be able to tell the child was severely injured and offer him comfort.

Witness testimony starts in the trial of Jammy Stacy.

The 43-year-old Elkhart woman is facing a felony neglect of a dependent charge for her alleged role in the severe abuse of a 2-year-old boy.

The child's mother, Rune Springer, says Stacy was her son's babysitter.

In March of 2018, Stacy and her mom, Annette Priestley, dropped the boy off at Springer's house.

After finding injuries on him, the boy's mom called police and he was taken to a hospital in Fort Wayne.

Doctors say the boy only had days to live.

Thankfully, the boy is recovering.

43-year-old Jammy Stacy was sentenced to 16 years in prison for neglect.

Police say the toddler was left with pieces of his scalp missing, part of his nose cut out, his arms broken in multiple places and what appeared to be injuries from fingernails dug into his cheeks.

Court documents say the boy's mother and stepfather did not call police because Stacy urged them not to.

Fayette Robinette, 60, one of five people charged in connection with the severe neglect and abuse of a Nappanee child in 2018, received a suspended sentence in Kosciusko Superior Court 1.
Pursuant to the terms of the plea agreement Judge David Cates sentenced Robinette to 180 days in the Kosciusko County Jail, with the sentence suspended and ordered to be served on non-reporting probation.

Annette Priestley, 60, of White Pigeon, Mich., was sentenced to 180 days in jail with all of it suspended for a lesser conviction of a Class A misdemeanor obstruction of justice charge.

The Etna Green woman who was sent to prison for 16 years in August has lost her appeal to be sentenced to a lesser charge.

Jammy Stacy, 43, was convicted of Level 3 felony neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury by a jury Aug. 6. She appeared before the late Kosciusko Superior Court I Judge David Cates on Aug. 31, and he sentenced her to 16 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections – the maximum sentence punishable for a Level 3 felony.
