A Pensacola woman has been arrested after she allegedly intentionally hit a child with her car and resisted arrest.

According to a report from the Pensacola Police Department, 37-year-old Lashonda Norman was driving when the victim said Norman was yelling about something.

That's when Norman attempted to kick the child out of the car - however when the child did not get out, Norman pulled into the Rooms to Go parking lot and told him to get out, the report stated.

The report revealed when the child got out of the car Norman put the car in reverse, backed away from him and then put the vehicle in drive and accelerated toward the child - hitting him with the vehicle.

The child was thrown five to six feet backward, the report said. Norman then fled the scene, the report stated.

Witnesses at the scene stated they believed Norman hit the child intentionally due to the rate of acceleration and distance traveled by her, the report revealed.

The child was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment, the report said.

Norman was located in a parking lot where she was then approached by a deputy who ordered her out of her vehicle, the report stated.

The report also mentioned that Norman refused to turn off her car and get out so the officer had to physically remove her from the car, which she created a struggle against.

Norman refused to make a statement, the report stated.
