Family: Man allegedly killed by Satanic couple says he was a good dad

Pazuzu Algarad and his girlfriend faced a judge Thursday for a pretrial hearing. The two are accused of murdering Joshua Wetzler and another man, and then burying their bodies
[...]
Wetzler’s family talked
[...]
Thursday.

“He was a doting father he loved his son,” said Stacey Carter, ex-girlfriend.
[...]
Wetzler last visited their son Jared in 2009.

“They played. Josh made pizzas for us,”
[...]
After that visit, she never heard from him again. She was worried about him, but kept thinking maybe he’d left town to find a better job. A friend soon called to share a strange rumor that Wetzler had been killed and buried in Algarad’s backyard
[...]
"When I went to the police, I thought they'd think I was crazy. I'd never heard of this person so it was pretty bizarre to me,”
[....]
She said police were familiar with Algarad, a self-proclaimed Satanist. He had pentagrams painted on his home and family members said he’d bragged about killing people and burying them in his back yard. Police went to search for Wetzler
[...]

A few weeks ago, police received another tip that led them back to the home. This time they found Wetzler’s remains and that of another man named Tommy Welch.

"I want to know why. I want to know why,” said Joshua Wetzler’s mother, Martha Wetzler.

Family members don’t believe Joshua Wetzler knew the suspects. They don’t understand why it took place but his mother hopes they get answers and justice for her son.

"What gives anybody the right to take somebody else's life?”
[...]
Carter said she hopes the case brings attention to the need for young people to get help before they get involved in a life of crime.

“I want this to raise awareness in the community for the need to reach out to youth that are at risk for getting into trouble for going off the rail,” said Carter.

Runs on spite.
Quote: Three arrested after remains of two missing men found buried in North Carolina backyard
Self-described Satanist Pazuzu Illah Algarad, 35, and his alleged wife, Amber Nicole Burch, 24, were ordered held without bail after Sunday's grisly discovery behind Algarad's Clemmons home. A third person, Krystal Matlock, 28, was also arrested for allegedly helping bury a body. Unquote.

Alleged wife.

I'm glad they're at least using "self-described Satanist," considering Satanism combined with murder is always good for a headline grabber. Satanism, in and of itself, does not a murderer make. I wonder what the headline would have read if he were Lutheran, or Pentacostal? Ijs.

November 6th article. At the link they have a video and a photo gallery of the inside of Pazuzu Algarad and Amber Burch's home. Pretty fucking nasty.

...rooms and hallways inside Algarad’s home are blanketed in trash and animal carcasses. The walls are spray-painted in graffiti, covered in mold and lined with hundreds of satanic photos ....
..friend first arrived to visit Burch.... Algarad was completely naked and never put on any clothes ......The excrement on the floor might have been both animal and human...friend said.
Algared’s next court appearance is April 30, 2015.

Why not? It's part of pagan decor.
Well, I can only speak for myself (this is gonna take a sec), and I did mention in my earlier post that "at least" they were using the descriptive a "self-described satanist," so I supposed if he wants to put up children's paper Halloween cut outs from Party City (thus my comment "garden variety") on his walls along with pentagrams, baphomets and real Satanic artwork he certainly can.

As with anything ecletic, you're right, he can do anything he likes. I just personally find it childish, esp. since he obviously took his hedonism very seriously given his crime. I also suspect (just me) it could've played into one of the reason(s) people didn't take him seriously. Fun, "spooky," children's trick-or-treat cutouts and clings aren't standard Satanic iconographic fare you're likely to find in the Satanic supply catalogs (although I'll give him a pass for the skull on the door - universal death symbology; I bought the same one for the kids' Halloween decorations at Walmart years ago).

Though there's always been a lot of controversy among Satanists as to "what to do"/celebrate on the Fall Climax/All Hallows Eve since there is no traditional, or standard religious celebration required (largely b/c it's not that old, comparatively, and much of their activities are loosely organized, improvised and borrowed), the overall point of the Fall Climax is to celebrate Nature and the Inner Self, and traditional Halloween-type cartoon cutouts/caricatures have nothing to with religion.

IMO, these decorations cheapen the true religion of Satanism and make its adherents look hokey and silly. Some Satanists have even publicly rallied/railed against people who equate their religion with anything of the traditional Halloween variety. They vehemently decry the associations just like most other Pagan/pagan faiths have done/still do in order to educate people on myths, misconceptions and other deliberately slanderous/libelous hate campaigns waged against them.

Re: true assoc. with Fall Climax/AHE/Halloween practice, some Satanists in the Euro. trads, for example, celebrate/remember the passing of their loved ones much like the Hispanic holiday Dia de Los Muertos. And, though it's not necessary, or a requirement of any kind, some independent/solitary Satanic practioners, and/or Satanic groups do like to hold a Black Mass on the fall holiday instead of just on a personal, special occasion, or their own birthdays (Satan's birthday) which is highest holy day of the year.

This is why I made both of the comments I did. I hope they make sense. I'm just speculating, but I think folks might've taken him a little more seriously as a dedicated, practicing Satanist if he'd have stayed away from the children's holiday caricatures. Then again, maybe not, who knows? JMO. :)

Thank you! As I said before I am pagan, and these Halloween decorations do not have anything to do with paganism. LOL

Prob wouldn't have said, "self described lutheran". Not sure why satanism gets special treatment in the media when other religions do not. Nobody calls extremist fucks who behead people self described muslims or christian fanatics who shoot up abortion clinics self described christians, despite their sick actions not being in line with their claimed religions actual core teachings.

The dude said he was a satanist, practiced some form of satanism(whether it goes along with what the rest of these goth nerds believe or not is irrelevant), therefore he was a satanist. The fact that he may have been doing it wrong or getting things twisted doesn't negate that.

Yep (re: the media's use of the word "satanist"). Makes great headlines to sell papers and gives the bubble heads on the nightly news another close up op. You never see/hear headlines screaming, "Raging Jew Murders Neighbor", or "Bob Smith, Episcopalian, Robs KFC!" But, stick Satanist in there and it's a media gold mine.

My last post @ 10:00am covers the rest re: my personal POV. I agree he was likely a serious practitioner.

You DO often see more traditional religious affiliations in headlines when someone deeply involved with their church molests a kid or is found with child porn or something. I've seen it in stories where some respected, upstanding religious person has murdered his wife too.

Li'l lengthy, but not too bad. ;)

Agreed, those are predominately relative to the standard sex scandal media fare involving Catholic priests and/or Protestant Christian clergy molesting kids, getting caught with hookers, the flock finding out they're gay, or sex addicts, or using tranny sex workers, etc. But, comparatively, when it comes to murder, the media doesn't usually specify someone's faith background. It's a whole different ball of wax.

Sex crimes and/or sexual dalliances by religious clergy are deliberately religion specific b/c they directly involve the hypocrisy of "trusted" religious leaders "defiling" their own doctrinal teachings, and the religious repercussions, esp. within the Big Three Abrahamic faiths, reflect not only on their particular sect, but on their global religious affiliations worldwide.

My point about the way this particular story reads is that nowhere in the article does it say this guy and his g/f, wife, whatever, murdered two guys because he was a Satanist. Once again, the media took the liberty to imply it was a factor. We have NO idea why these lousy wastes decided to commit murder, so the media took full advantage of the public's fear, ignorance, and insatiable appetite for sensationalism to make an otherwise b-story an a-story. Without the religious angle the story's just another lukewarm, "meh" murder story to the press. Satan (the ultimate boogey man) is always good for business.

Other than all the television, movie, fiction books, news media, and wannabe-induced hysterical hype feeding a bunch of stereotypical voyeurs who'd rather sit in their armchairs and buy into sensationalism and fantasy fiction rather than educate themselves about the truth re: religions they don't understand, why was it important to mention this guy's religion/faith background? Again, he didn't say he commited murder 'b/c he was a Satanist.' He's just another murdering, scumbag pos (like his alleged wife) who lived in a nasty house and bragged to people about his criminal activities. If he was Christian or Judaic in the same situation they wouldn't have even mentioned it. What's his religion got to do with it?

QUOTE: It would have taken 78 grand to repair the place?

Probably more than that. Even the surrounding acreage of the property was a mess needs a lot of work. This is about 20 minutes from my house and talk about a circus of characters. The neighbors said the house had a weird stench that could be smelled throughout their area way after the bodies were removed. I can't see how any that house could ever be made acceptable to live in.

I find it funny that people from all over the country are discussing this; Pazuzu is a long-time personal friend of mine, and I've known Nick Rizzi not all that well, but for quite some time now. Sorry to resurrect a "dead" thread, but I just couldn't help but be amused by the musings about a friend of mine by people who have no idea how CRAZY this guy is. I've never met a stranger or more unique individual in my life than Pazuzu Illah Algarad. Just say the word, y'all, and I will tell you some sick, just plain weird, crazy, and hilarious stories. I've done a lot of drinking and smoking and partying with this cat, and I know him pretty damn well at this point.
Please, tell me more.....

How is one an alleged wife? You're either married or not, pretty cut and dry. If there is a signed and recorded marriage license then you are married if there isn't then you're not.
I assumed she claimed to be his wife but there is no record on file. Or they got married in some home brew satanic ritual without the benefit of the marriage license. No doubt a "self described Satanist" would turn up his nose at some official piece of paper.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The autopsy report for one of the victims found buried in a Clemmons backyard last year was released on Tuesday afternoon.

The autopsy report from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Department of Pathology indicates that 36-year-old Tommy Dean Welch died of a gunshot wound to the head.

The report said the trajectory of the bullet was from back-to-front and left-to-right.

A “For Sale” sign that had been in the empty lot Friday morning where the house of slaying suspect Pazuzu Algarad once stood and the skeletal remains of two men were found last October was gone by late Friday afternoon.

It isn’t clear why the sign at 2749 Knob Hill Drive was removed or by whom. The Headley Group, a Kernersville-based affiliate of Keller Williams Realty, had been listed on the sign.

It isn’t clear why the sign at 2749 Knob Hill Drive was removed or by whom. The Headley Group, a Kernersville-based affiliate of Keller Williams Realty, had been listed on the sign.

Residents up and down Knob Hill Drive have been eager for things to return to normal after their lives were disrupted by the law-enforcement investigation into activities inside and outside the house formerly owned by Algarad’s mother, Cynthia James.

Three people have been charged in connection with athe deaths of Wetzler and Welch. Algarad, an avowed Satanist, and his girlfriend, Amber Burch, have each been charged with first-degree murder and accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

Krystal Matlock has been charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

When asked what they would like to see done with the lot, some neighbors said it would be appropriate to put in a small park or a prayer garden to be named for the two victims. Danielle Lyons, one of Welch’s cousins, said she is interested in a similar dedication to the two victims.

Others suggested building a Habitat for Humanity home there.

His house is disgusting, Simply a very free, chaotic kind of liberating vibe--the kind of chaotic freedom that people not entirely in control can get carried away with, if anyone can possibly understand my meaning.
Like a crack den, or a shooting gallery...you could just as easily die there as easily as you could get high...I understand completely...fucking lovely! I hope the neighbours are celebrating with gas cans and matches and some strategically set fires.

Building a Habitat for Humanity home on the site?

I'm pro-affordable housing, especially as a form of recompense to the community, but uh.. I'm not so sure the house will be an easy sell.

Me, I'd be in it in a heartbeat, but most folks would raise an eyebrow at the chance to live in a house on that site.
