Sentenced: Ohio man gets 11yo girl he had hidden in a bedroom closet pregnant

An Ohio man has been arrested on suspicion of raping an 11-year-old girl who is now reported to be pregnant.

Juan Leon-Gomez, 26, was taken into custody Wednesday morning after police found the child hidden inside his bedroom closet.

Law enforcement showed up to his Massillon home - after the girl's mother reported her missing.

Leon-Gomez was already under investigation for sexual assault in an ongoing case involving the juvenile.

When officers arrived at the Woodland Avenue residence shortly after 1 a.m., Leon-Gomez hid the child and turned off the lights, according to the police report. Officers knocked on the door several times before getting an answer.

A man living with Leon-Gomez gave cops permission to search the residence but told them he did not want to be involved.

Law enforcement later discovered the girl inside a closet.

An undocumented immigrant convicted of raping an 11-year-old girl will serve at least 10 years behind bars.

On Tuesday, at a Stark County court hearing, the prosecutor’s office said Juan Leon-Gomez was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison.

Police and court records show that Leon-Gomez was arrested in the Massillon area on May 1. Days earlier, the victim’s mother reported to authorities that her daughter was pregnant on April 29.

Upon completion of his sentence Leon-Gomez will be deported back to Guatemala.
