NJ Man Caught With $20k In Drugs And A Handgun

A 25-year-old city man was arrested early Thursday morning after being found with $20,000 worth of drugs and a handgun, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik announced.

The suspect, Gary Cabrera, was stopped by sheriff’s Officer Angelo Calabro as he pulled out of a driveway on Summer Street in the 5th Ward at about 3:20 a.m., Berdnik said.

The officer smelled marijuana and searched Cabrera’s car, finding 9 ounces of heroin, 235 grams of marijuana, and 90 prescription painkiller pills, authorities said. The officer also found a handgun, the sheriff said.

The suspect was charged with various narcotics and weapons crimes.
