An investigation is underway after a baby was found alive in a dumpster in suburban Boca Raton on Wednesday morning.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, two people were walking in an apartment complex near Boca Entrada Blvd. around 9 a.m., and heard what sounded like a baby crying.

That's when they found a newborn baby girl alive in a dumpster, PBSO says.

These stories break my heart. To be valued so little at the very start of your life.

Deputies in South Florida said they've arrested the mother of a newborn girl was found abandoned alive inside a trash bin.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said they arrested Rafaelle Alessandra Carbalho Sousa, and identified her as the mother's child. She faces an attempted murder charge.

According to a Facebook post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Sousa admitted to delivering the baby, placing her in a bag, and tossing her in the dumpster.

Cold blooded bitch....sje certainly looks old enough to know better and other ways to get her baby to someplace safe (where she would be found immediately and taken proper care of).
Sterilise her and send her to jail.

You, have a blessedly healthy baby, no complications (obviously, because your up roaming the streets looking for a handy dandy dumpster, to use as a crib before the blood has dried). Why, could you not just hand this little one to a hospital, church, fire department, hell even a flippin waffle house!
This "woman" is plenty old enough to know better, she had time to make a plan, that did not include tossing a tiny human in a dumpster!

Save your sympathy for the baby. This certified dumbass is both dumb and cruel; she wrapped the baby’s head in plastic as well. Sickening.

Cops didn’t crack the case going door-to-door in the end.
Instead, Sousa also left behind another clue that led to her arrest: A receipt from the beauty-supply store where she recently shopped, deputies say.

Sousa, 35, admitted placing her baby girl in a bag and throwing her in the dumpster, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Friday. But that plan was foiled when workers at her apartment complex found the child alive Wednesday after hearing cries coming from the dumpster.
The baby, who weighed nearly seven pounds, was found in a white plastic garbage bag with a red tie. The girl’s head also was wrapped in a yellow and white plastic bag that also contained coffee grinds and other household trash

How Sarah Jimenes Carvalho got here is nothing short of a miracle.

The happy and healthy toddler, who just started walking, celebrated with her father, Carlos Jimenes Martins, 4-year-old brother Noah, and close friends Friday afternoon.

On May 8, 2019, on the first day of her life, her mother, Rafaella Sousa, abandoned her in the dumpster, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Two maintenance workers heard the muffled cries and eventually discovered the newborn wrapped in plastic bags.

Little Sarah has come a long way since then.

Martins, who only speaks Portuguese, described what the last year has been like for the family.

“It’s like a hurricane ripped through her life, at first,” he said through a translator.

He went on to say that raising both Sarah and his son, Noah, has been one of the most rewarding experiences.

Since Martins works overtime to provide for his family, close friends pitch in to help.
Marleni Marien works full time.

“I’m very happy, very nice baby girl and so beautiful,” Marien said.
The father’s lawyer and loved ones are setting up a trust for the children’s education. In the meantime, a GoFundMe account was set up to help.

A Boca Raton woman who threw her newborn baby girl in a dumpster in May 2019 has pleaded guilty to attempted murder and child abuse.

Rafaelle Sousa, 38, was sentenced Wednesday morning to 90 months (7.5 years) in prison for attempted murder and 5 years for child abuse and was given credit for about 40 months that she has already spent behind bars.
Sousa told sheriff's investigators in May 2019 she put the baby in a white plastic bag and put it into a dumpster at the apartment complex where she lived.

"She stated she tried to get the baby to respond and waited three hours to see if the baby would breathe. She also said she went back twice to the dumpster to make sure the baby was dead but never approached the bag because there were people in the parking area around the dumpster," according to the arrest report.
