Netflix jokingly promised "not to make any more" episodes of "Good Omens," a show that streams on Amazon Prime, after thousands of people signed on to a Christian petition asking Netflix to drop the program.

"Ok we promise not to make any more," the company said in a tweet from its UK account that also featured an article about the petition.

Amazon Prime also joined in on the fun on Twitter. "Hey @netflix, we'll cancel Stranger Things if you cancel Good Omens," it said.

The petition in question sought to have "Good Omens," which tells the story of a demon and an angel who team up to defeat the Antichrist and prevent the apocalypse, removed from Netflix - even though it streams on Amazon Prime.

[...]

In its petition, the group lists a number of ways it believes the series "presents devils and Satanists as normal and even good, where they merely have a different way of being, and mocks God's wisdom."

"An angel and demon are good friends, and are meant to be earth's ambassadors for Good and Evil respectively," the group says, adding, "This pair tries to stop the coming of the Antichrist because they are comfortable and like the earth so much."

"God is voiced by a woman," the group continues. "The Antichrist, who will oppose the Kingdom of God, is portrayed as a normal kid that has special powers and a mission to destroy the world which he doesn't really want to do."

It then goes on to conclude in the petition that the show "in the end" is a "denial of Good and Evil: morality and natural law do not exist, just humanitarianism and an ultimately useless creed."

"This is another step to make Satanism appear normal, light and acceptable. We must show our rejection," the group adds. "Please sign our petition, telling Netflix that we will not stand silent as they destroy the barriers of horror we still have for evil."

All this energy modern day Christianity has could go into .. lead by example an as God says in the Bible uuummmm a hundred times over and not live worldly lives and sacrifice all to help others like donating time, money, worldly things to the impoverished sick and lame.. oh damn they might have to actually follow their doctrines and the Bible.. never mind.. let’s go back to fixing important things like cancellations of fictional shows!

"God is voiced by a woman," the group continues.

By the fabulous Frances McDormand no less, with narration like a Coen bother's film.

This is probably one of their bigger issues - as if any religious group has verifiable proof of God, what gender God is, and whether God even has a gender, or even a physical body.
Funny how whatever happens naturally on the planet is referred to as "Mother Nature", but God absolutely MUST be male in their beliefs and teachings.

The show rocked!

Funny how religious zealots refuse to allow others the freedoms of expression they themselves enjoy.
More and more religion is becoming an excuse for hypocrisy for the willfully intolerant.
