After concealing her pregnancy from her parents since July, a Neptune High School student gave birth to a baby boy at her home one week ago, then suffocated him before the baby’s father tossed him in a dumpster, according to authorities.

The grisly details about the death of the newborn — named Legend by his mother — were included in an affidavit of probable cause that led to a first-degree murder charge Friday against the mother, Jada M. McClain, 18, of Neptune.

Investigators said they were tipped off about the infanticide when a female friend of McClain’s contacted police in Asbury Park on Thursday to report that McClain had given birth to a baby the week before who was now deceased. The friend also told investigators that she had been with McClain in November when McClain had taken a self-administered pregnancy test that appeared to confirm she was with child.

In February, McClain showed off her stomach to her friend, which had swelled due to the pregnancy. McClain told her friend that she was drinking, smoking “weed” and taking pills in an effort to kill her unborn child, all according to the affidavit.

Last Sunday, McClain contacted the friend via the messaging app Snapchat to inform her that she had delivered the baby in the early morning hours of March 29.

McClain told the detectives that she had been dating Mohammed when she discovered she was pregnant sometime in July. At that time, she chose to conceal her pregnancy from her parents.

McClain explained that she had given birth to a son about 4 a.m. on March 29 while inside the bathroom of her mother’s Neptune home. She delivered the child while seated on the toilet but prevented the baby from falling into the water of the toilet bowl, according to the affidavit.

She said that the baby was crying at the time of his birth and after he was born, she went into the shower to clean herself and the baby.

She then took the baby into her bedroom and placed him on his back — on her bed. That’s when and where she used both of her hands to press on the baby’s chest to stop him from breathing, she told investigators, all according to the affidavit.

“Jada explained that prior to placing her hands on her baby’s chest, she disclosed that the baby was breathing and that her intention was to stop her baby from breathing,” the affidavit read.

About 6 a.m., McClain said she called Mohammed on her cell phone to inform him that she had delivered their child.

After speaking with him, she wrapped her baby in a blanket and placed the infant in a bag. She put the bag in the backseat of her Volkswagen Jetta, she said, according to the affidavit.

McClain then picked up Mohammed and the couple went to the ocean where they remained for about one hour. They then drove back to Mohammed’s home and sat in the car again for about one hour before pulling into the parking lot of the Washington Village apartment complex in Asbury Park, the affidavit read.

McClain told investigators that Mohammed got out of the car at the complex and discarded the baby’s remains in a trash dumpster, police said.

The Asbury Park Police Department later reviewed video surveillance recordings from Washington Village on March 29, which showed McClain’s Jetta arriving in the complex about 9:30 a.m. on that day.

The video also recorded Mohammed getting out of the front passenger seat and discarding what appeared to be a blue colored trash bag into the dumpster, according to the affidavit.

From the title, I thought this would be a teen from the planet Neptune.

Instead, it is just two selfish teen parents who only cared about themselves, Jadass and Quagmire. They could have taken the baby to a safe haven and left it with no questions asked. The baby would have lived, their parents would not have been informed, and they could have gone on with their lives as if nothing happened. Now the baby is dead, and they get to go to prison and will be known for the rest of their lives as baby killers. Morons.

The girl is a monster and was not that sheltered to know that she had other options than killing her newborn.

It might have been edited out but she sent a picture of the baby to a friend and the description of the baby in the image makes me think she already killed the baby and cleaned the baby after killing it.

@Keepalowprofile

The girl is going to use Post P and the sperm shooter is not going to do any hard time for disposing of the child's body.

She'll be going to Monmouth county jail where they separate the women by min and max so at least She'll experience longer lock downs in my least favorite jail... The girls in max are nice to pedo moms so no real hope of prison justice till she goes to clinton

The 19-year-old father accused of tossing his newborn son’s body in a garbage bin to help his girlfriend coverup the killing of the infant moments after he was born will remain in jail pending trial, a judge ruled Friday morning.

Quaimere Mohammed only spoke to tell the judge to say he understood the charges and the outcome of the detention hearing.

Jada M. McClain, 18, is accused of suffocating her baby minutes after she gave birth in the bathroom of her Neptune Township home at 4 a.m. on March 29. She allegedly drove to Mohammed’s home a few hours later, and eventually determined to dispose of the body in a dumpster in Asbury Park, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

McClain is charged with first-degree murder and is expected to appear in court Wednesday for a detention hearing.

Prosecutors argued that Mohammed and McClain discussed the killing and disposing of the newborn, who McClain named Legend, to avoid their parents from finding out about the pregnancy.

Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Stephanie Dugan said the couple discussed several options on what to do with the child. She described how McClain allegedly killed her son by pressing down on his chest until his lips were blue just after giving birth.

Duncan also said McClain’s friend, who reported the alleged crime, told police she was drinking, smoking weed and taking pills in an attempt to kill the baby.

Mohammed’s attorney, Steven Nelson, noted the couple was madly in love and argued they did not discuss killing the baby. He read several text messages to the the judge that he said showed regret, remorse and “unimaginable pain.”

Authorities have not found the remains, which the defense argued would be necessary evidence to prove what was thrown away.

“She is the only proof of what was in the bag,” Nelson said, also clarifying that Mohammed “gently placed” the bag in the dumpster.

He pointed out McClain never received prenatal care and did not know when the baby would be born. He said she thought the baby would just go away because she was “delusional” about the reality.

“She didn’t think it would come out,” Nelson said. “They never talked about what they were going to do in great lengths. They stuck their heads in the sand.”

A New Jersey woman accused of killing her newborn son will remain jailed.

Jada McClain’s lawyer sought to have her released Wednesday pending her murder trial, saying she needs her family’s emotional support as well as medical and psychological treatment.

But Monmouth County prosecutors said the 18-year-old Neptune Township resident should stay jailed, noting the charges she faces.

The judge eventually decided the defense had not overcome a presumption that murder defendants be held without bail until trial. But he called it “a very, very difficult decision for this court on so many levels.”

Two New Jersey teenagers have admitted their roles in the death of their newborn baby, whose dead body was tossed into an outdoor trash bin.

Eighteen-year-old Jada McClain of Neptune pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated manslaughter by pressing on the chest of her newborn son until he stopped breathing. Nineteen-year-old Quaimere Mohammed, also of Neptune, pleaded guilty to disturbing or desecrating human remains.

They are to be sentenced March 20.

Under the terms of a plea bargain, McClain faces 10 years in prison, and Mohammed faces five.

A Monmouth County couple is headed to prison for their roles in the death of their newborn baby in 2019.

Twenty-year-old Jada McClain received a 10-year sentence and 21-year-old Quaimere Mohammed got a five-year term.

McClain apologized in court and sought leniency. She was a student at Neptune High School when she gave birth to a son at her family’s home.

Authorities say McClain pressed her hands on the boy’s chest until he stopped breathing, then contacted Mohammed. The couple then disposed of the body in a trash bin in Asbury Park.

Too bad part of their sentence did not include them having their reproductive organs removed.
