A New Jersey man caught sexually assaulted a sleeping child when a passerby happened to look into a Long Branch bedroom window in 2017 has admitted to multiple charges and faces 25 years in state prison when he is sentenced, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday.
Jaime Mauricio Leon, 34, of Bloomfield, pleaded guilty last week to aggravated sexual assault and possession of child pornography.
A passerby who happened to look in a bedroom window of a Long Branch residence on June 16, 2017 saw a man, later identified as Leon, and a woman sexually assaulting the child, authorities said. The witness reported the incident to police the same day.
Leon was arrested a week later while working in Fort Lee, officials said.
The plea deal calls for Leon to serve 25 years before he is eligible for parole and he will be required to register as a Megan’s Law offender with supervision for life.
The woman, who knows the victim, is still facing charges. She was not named by authorities.
