The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation arrested two people in connection with a months-long investigation into a 2-year-old's death.
On Dec. 29, 2023, the Cordell police responded to a home about a child not breathing. Lifesaving measures were attempted and the child was taken to an area hospital, but authorities say he died.
37-year-old Jerrid Page Johnson, and his maternal grandmother, 63-year-old Kathleen Mary Green, were at the home when officers arrived on scene. OSBI special agents interviewed both individuals and began their comprehensive investigation.
The child's body was taken to the chief medical examiner's office to determine the cause and manner of death. Police and OSBI agents opened an investigation, speaking with the child's biological father and maternal grandmother.
An autopsy reported completed in August listed the child's probable cause of death as acute fentanyl toxicity, according to OSBI officials. A felony murder warrant was issued for the father and grandmother on Sept. 11, and they turned themselves in to the Washita County Sheriff's Office on charges of second-degree murder.
Online records show that the father, Jerrid Page Johnson, was charged with second-degree murder.
