Mother left child in car at walmart in 99 degree temperatue

Jennifer Renee McElveen Wise, 38, is being charged with unlawful neglect after deputies say she left her infant in a hot car.

According to multiple media outlets, a call went out at 5:48 p.m. on Tuesday about a baby girl inside a car outside of a Walmart. The temperature at the time was 99 degrees with a heat index of 102 degrees.

A special operations deputy was nearby and responded within two minutes and had to break the car window to get the baby out. The deputy was attempting to cool the baby off when EMS arrived.

The one-year-old baby is doing okay and was able to drink water, according to the deputy.
