This is the uplifting moment 10 puppies were safely rescued from a crumbling abandoned home.
With the dogs shivering in fear and staying tightly compact in nooks and crannies to avoid the cold, rescuers with the Michigan Humane Society had to, at times, literally use their bare hands to dig and reach the animals.
The field services team at the Michigan Humane Society were called to the scene by a neighbor, who had seen the puppies and their mother running in, out and around the house.
The rescue team knew that they had to act quickly as temperatures began to plummet during the evening hours.
During the rescue, on December 18 and 19, the mother watched on from a safe distance before later being reunited with the adorable pups at the shelter.
Towards the end of 2017, almost all of the puppies had been adopted, a representative for the shelter said.
Anna Chrisman, communications manager for the Michigan Humane Society, said: "The biggest challenge with this rescue was the crumbling structure of the house - our team had to work for hours just to remove enough debris to gain access to the puppies.
"The other big challenge is unpredictable Michigan weather.
"Snow was predicted for that day, which would have greatly slowed the work down and possibly caused harm to the puppies and our crew.
