A mother who triggered an Amber Alert last week told police she was planning to inject bleach into herself and her child to rid themselves of parasites.

Court documents say 41-year-old Brooke A. Helmandollar has been charged with criminal mistreatment of her 10-year-old daughter, and may have mental health issues.

The Spokesman-Review says police found bleach in a Nampa, Idaho, motel where the mother and daughter were staying.

The child was placed in Child Protective Services custody following her mother’s arrest in Cheney, Washington.

An Amber Alert victim's father has pleaded guilty to obstructing officers, according to Idaho court records.

On March 20, police say Jon Helmandollar's wife, Brooke Helmandollar left the state with their 10-year-old which prompted an Amber Alert.

Police found Brooke in Cheney, Wash. with her daughter, who was not harmed but, according to the Spokesman Review, Brooke told police she planned to inject her daughter with bleach.

Nampa Police said Jon initially provided false information to officers about where his daughter was.

According to online court records, Helmandollar pleaded guilty today (Aug. 27) to the misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing as part of a plea agreement. A criminal solicitation to commit a crime charge was dismissed.

He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, but 86 of those days were suspended and will be on unsupervised probation until Aug. 27, 2020.

Im confused.

Oh well. What ever is going on doesnt matter much if the court is giving 4 day jail sentences.

I hope the girl is not returned to either parent.
Totally agree! And while I know all these sentences, if you can even call them that, weren’t issued today, this is the day I read them...and an overwhelming majority of them are a disgrace. Way to show the value this country puts on children’s lives.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women out there that know what it means to truly be a mother:)

Brooke A. Helmandollar was sentenced to four years of probation in early 2021 after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a 2019 incident where she planned to inject bleach into her daughter and herself. [1, 2, 3]

Case Overview
In March 2019, Helmandollar triggered an Amber Alert after taking her 10-year-old daughter from school and traveling to Washington. She was eventually located in a motel in Cheney, Washington, where police discovered bleach, charcoal, and materials for enemas. [1, 2, 3]

Sentencing Details
  • Charges: She originally faced a charge of second-degree criminal mistreatment. [1]
  • Mental Health Context: Court documents indicated that Helmandollar suffered from severe mental health issues, specifically believing that she and her daughter were infested with "parasites" that only bleach could cure. [1, 2]
  • Sentence: Following her guilty plea, a judge sentenced her to four years of supervised probation rather than prison time, with a focus on ongoing mental health treatment. [1]
  • Family Impact: Her husband, Jon Helmandollar (a former Boise State football player), was also sentenced in 2019 to 90 days in jail (with 86 days suspended) for providing false information to police during the search for their daughter. [1, 2]
