Dazshea Watkins, 25, of Cleveland was accused of sending video of her attempting to drown her 6-year-old son in a bathtub to the child's father in August was indicted on charges including two counts of attempted murder and multiple counts of endangering children, kidnapping and assault.

Watkins was arrested on Sept. 4 and indicted on Friday, Sept. 13. Bond was set at $10,000, and she posted bail on Sept. 12, according to court records.

Watkins tried to drown her son in a bathtub on or about Aug 28, her indictment states.

Cleveland police investigated the incident after the child's aunt saw the video of the attempting drowning on the father's phone, according to the police report. On August 28, the father received the video, which showed Watkins holding the child by the neck under the water in the bathtub, with the child kicking and splashing water in an attempt to get away from mother. The video ended before it showed Watkins releasing the child.

After the father saw the video, he went to the house and found his son to be safe and took custody of him, the report states. The child's aunt told the father to report the incident, but the father said he did not want Watkins to go jail. When he did not file a report, the aunt filed one on his behalf. The aunt told Watkins to send her the video of the attempted drowning because the father said his phone accidentally reset and his copy of the video was lost.

The aunt told police she spoke to Watkins on the phone, and Watkins said she was pregnant, frustrated and felt alone, which is why she did what she did, the report states.

The indictment states that Watkins also beat the child, hit him in the head with a broom and caused physical harm to him with a pillow.

The Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services confirmed they took emergency custody of the child from Watkins.

DCFS said they have made contact with Watkins twice in the past, but both those cases were closed. They have re-opened a case with her after her indictment for attempting to drown her son.

Here's a thought, bitch... if you are frustrated with caring for your kid and feel alone, then stop spreading your legs for baby daddys who won't be there to help or support you. It was extra stupid to get pregnant again if you are already struggling.

Wait... her name is Dazshea Lite Brite Watkins?!? Please don't let that be her given name, it's just too stupid.

"...charges including two counts of attempted murder and multiple counts of endangering children, kidnapping and assault."

"...video, which showed Watkins holding the child by the neck under the water in the bathtub, with the child kicking and splashing water in an attempt to get away from [Watkins]."

"Watkins also beat the child, hit him in the head with a broom and caused physical harm to him with a pillow. "

and yet...

"Bond was set at $10,000..."

That just doesn't seem right.

A 27-year-old Cleveland mother has been sentenced to 14 to 16.5 years in prison for attempting to drown her six-year-old son in a bathtub.

According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley, Dazshea Watkins attempted to drown her son in a bathtub at their east side Cleveland home in August 2019.
Watkins, who was reportedly upset with the child’s father, held the six-year-old underwater by his neck and yelled “obscenities” at him while he gasped for air.

Officials say Watkins recorded the incident on her cellphone and sent the video to the child’s father. She then took the boy to a bedroom and attempted to suffocate him with a pillow.

The child’s aunt arrived at the home, found the boy, and took custody.
The Ohio Department of Corrections will review Watkins’ case and behavior after she has served 14 years and will make a determination as to whether she should be released.

“This mother committed unspeakable crimes against her own child,” Prosecutor O’Malley said in a press release. “She has earned every day of her sentence.”

Who is more company than a six year old boy? How could you possibly be “lonely “? She was mad at the child’s father ? So what does that have to do with the child? The Aunt saved his life, by the time the female is released the little boy will be a young man ! I too hope she’s too old to reproduce when she’s released.

I assume he has the child now and hope he’s taking care of him. I don’t believe he accidentally deleted the video after he told his sister he didn’t want the woman who tried to murder his son to go to jail. Surely he knew if he didn’t report the abuser would still have access to his son. That’s scary.

I hope the aunt is watching the brother.

I can't stop thinking about the six year old boy and what impact his mother attempting to kill him will have on his relationship with women in the future.

The damage this woman has done cannot even be measured in time.

The young man will be in his early twenties when she gets out.

I pray he never has to hear the words she is still your mother, the only one you will ever have or she did the best she could.
