The judge in the case of a Perry couple charged with the murder of their 16-year-old adopted daughter has approved a motion to move the trial out of Dallas County.

Judge Terry Rickers made the ruling Wednesday morning. He agreed to move the trial because of pre-trial publicity. The judge advised court administrators to look to the eastern or western borders of the state for a new venue.

Any word on sentencing of the son who abused her?

Justin Dale Ray has been sentenced to two consecutive five-year prison terms for his involvement in the death of his adoptive sister, Sabrina Ray.

The 21-year-old from Perry pleaded guilty to lesser charges Friday afternoon, after admitting he had pushed his 16-year-old adopted sister down a flight of stairs and kicked her in the face in the months leading up to her death. He was found guilty of two counts of willful injury causing bodily injury, a class D felony carrying a maximum prison sentence of five years for each. In exchange for the guilty plea, he had his other two charges dismissed, which included child endangerment resulting in serious injury, a class C felony, and child endangerment resulting in bodily injury, a class D felony.

Marc and Misty Ray will likely never take another breath outside of the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections.

On Thursday the Perry couple were sentenced after pleading guilty to abusing their adopted children, including the abuse that lead directly to the death of Sabrina Ray. The 16-year-old weighed just 56 pounds when she was found dead in a locked bedroom in 2017.

Misty Ray was handed a life sentence after pleading guilty to three counts of kidnapping. Marc Ray was sentenced to a maximum of 80 years in prison. He must serve 70% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

Nice ... this is good. The food in jail is delicious (just kidding ... its not, its gross) They're going to get some three times a day ... plus a snack and they're going to fucking hate it ... hahahaha!

The final suspect in the death of Sabrina Ray pleaded guilty Friday afternoon.

Josie Bousman pleaded guilty to charges of neglect of a dependent person and two counts of child endangerment.

She was sentenced to serve up to 14 years in prison.

Bousman previously agreed to testify against the other defendants in the case but none of them went to trial. They also reached plea deals and are serving prisons sentences.

Marc and Misty Ray, Sabrina’s adoptive parents, were sentenced in January. Misty will spend the rest of her life in prison and is not eligible for parole. Marc was sentenced to 80 years in prison and must serve 35 years before becoming eligible for parole.

Adoptive brother Justin Ray was sentenced to 10 years in prison and adoptive grandmother Carla Bousman was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
