"Angela Hock was charged with negligent child abuse resulting in death after she attempted to deliver a breach baby at a woman’s home last month, according to court documents.

Medics were dispatched to the Omaha home on June 15 when they found the mother, 25-year-old Emily Noe, still in labor with Hock holding the partially-delivered baby, according to an incident report from Omaha Police.

The baby was partially delivered in the breech position, meaning the bottom half of its body was delivered first, according to the report. Hock allegedly asked the medics for medical scissors when they arrived on the scene.

Once given the scissors, Hock performed an “obstetrical procedure of the peritoneum,” a membrane in the abdominal cavity, to see if she could deliver the head of the baby, but the procedure did not help, according to a court affidavit.

“The baby was eventually delivered by squad personnel while in route to the emergency room. The baby was limp and had no respirations or pulse,” according to the affidavit. “Resuscitation efforts were performed at that time. The baby was taken to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit upon arrival at the hospital and placed on life support.”

The newborn, a baby girl named Vera, was removed from life support two days later, according to the affidavit. Doctors said the baby had been "deprived of oxygen for approximately 10 to 12 minutes during the time that Hock attempted this delivery without medical assistance," according to incident report."

she realised the baby was breech, convinced the mother she could still deliver at home, babies body delivered but uterus closed around neck and head WHICH IS WHAT OFTEN HAPPENS IN BREECH BIRTHS, finally called emergency services, used dirty trauma shears to try an episiotomy to get baby out (of course that wasnt the fucking problem tho) IN FRONT OF THE PARAMEDICS, then as they rushed mum to hospital she refused to accompany the ambulance, refused to give any info on mother and labour and packed up her shit, cleaned the scene and took off like a robbers dog.
i fucking hope she gets JAIL

3 News Now partner, Court TV, reported that a self-proclaimed, unlicensed Nebraska midwife has been cleared of criminal liability/responsibility for the death of a breech baby she tried to deliver in her parents’ home.

Baby Vera Noe died of complications from childbirth and not because of the actions of the woman who tried to deliver her legs first, a lawyer for unlicensed midwife Angela Hock told a Nebraska judge Thursday.
Hock chose a bench trial, which meant Judge Timothy Burns decided her fate instead of a jury.

Court TV reported, Friday morning at 10 a.m. eastern, Judge Burns said, “There’s a vast difference between civil and criminal charges”.
The judge went on to explain while Hock wasn’t licensed, she had training and experience as a midwife.

“At no time did Ms. Hock misrepresent herself,” the judge said.

The court found Hock not guilty of all charges. Hock left the courtroom surrounded by supporters and her attorneys.

It's a terrible tragedy, but this: "self-proclaimed, unlicensed Nebraska midwife...<did not> misrepresent herself." That's kinda Mom's fault. Childbirth is not the time to dick around.

ETA: The baby did not die solely because the midwife was unlicensed. Babies--unfortunately--die in hospitals with well-trained medical doctors too. What I AM saying is that perhaps the midwife did not realize the severity of the situation and how difficult the birth would be.

And I'm not responding to that other crap cause it's welllll crap.

I knew a Dr. Who did home deliveries assisted by midwives. You went to appointments and were examined during your pregnancy . If you were hi risk the Dr. Would Not deliver the baby at your home. At that point you were made an appointment at your hospital and the Dr and midwife met you when it was time for delivery. The Drs contract was very clear about hi risk conditions.

There are people who can't afford the $20,000 medical bill. Plus covid and trans children have taught us that most doctors are soulless money-driven psychopaths who can never be trusted.
However poor this midwife's medical skills are, she still meant well. They're jailing her because they don't want anyone threatening their monopoly.
