A Mesa mother and grandmother have been charged with child abuse after drugs were found in the blood samples of two young children who lived in their home.

Court records show that 58-year-old Andrea McDevitt, and her daughter, 31-year-old Erika McDevitt, were charged on Wednesday with two counts of child abuse.

Investigators say Erika was selling heroin and meth out of the bathroom of her home near Country Club and University drives. Andrea was also found to have heroin and meth in her purse when investigators searched the house.

Police say the bathroom had child proof door locks on it.

However, the children, ages two and three-years-old, both showed traces of meth and morphine in their systems, according to court records.

Both Ericka and Andrea reportedly denied giving the children any drugs. However, police say certain drugs can be transferred through food or touch.

Well, here is something interesting. I found two notices of a petition of termination of parent-child relationship twice for Erika McDevitt, one in April and another last month. The thing is, besides listing Erika McDevitt, its also lists a Shalindria McDevitt and a Kenneth Kammes. So, 3 people share custody of 2 children? Oh, btw, both Shalindria and Kenneth are shitbags as well.

Kenneth Kammes
Killed a man in a "road rage" incident in 2014, though I can't find any outcome of this incident.

What the hell was going on in that house? Was Grandma Andrea, Erika, Shalindria, and Ken just rolling around fucking each other, while shooting crank, with the toddlers stumbling by?

In reading through her FB it seems at some point she had lost custody of the children and was getting visitation with them.

I can't imagine that those children will be returned to her again.
You'd certainly hope not but then again plenty of stories you read about kids being returned to abusive parents then being found dead weeks or months later.... they're the worst/sadest ones man :(

I think that the mom daughter may have had custody and if so the state will have some explaining and internal investigations as to why the children were with the mom and daughter.

The only sensible scenario is that the elder drug dealer had the custody and the daughter was not suppose to be there but had visitation with the children and was able to bring them to visit the bio-mom in jail.
