A 34-year-old Maryland man was arrested after police said he knowingly transferred HIV to women he met on various dating websites and apps.
Frederick County police arrested Rudolph Smith after obtaining evidence during a 21-month investigation that he was actively having sex with women knowing he was HIV positive.
Detectives identified and contacted several of the victims and received several search and seizure warrants against Smith.
Smith was indicted by a grand jury on the following charges:
- 4 counts: First-degree assault - First Degree
- 4 counts: Reckless endangerment
- 4 counts: Knowing transfer of HIV prohibited.
