A 38-year-old man was left for dead on a New York City street early Sunday morning after being viciously beaten during a robbery, police said.

The unidentified victim was in front of a supermarket in the Bronx’s University Heights neighborhood just after 3 a.m. Sunday when he was attacked, police said. Basheer Alabdi, a deli worker, told the New York Daily News the man had lost his wallet and was drunk at the time of the incident.

“His friends in a van just dropped him off. He’d come from a party and he was drunk. He was talking s--- to everybody,” Alabdi said.

At some point, the man began talking to his assailant, and surveillance video shows the attacker pointing to the man’s hand before delivering his first punch. A brief struggle ensued, but the victim fell to the ground and endured several more blows to the face as he was sprawled against a parked vehicle.

The attacker continued to punch the man and at one point stopped to remove what appeared to be headphones. He then kicked the victim in the face repeatedly and left the scene with a blood-splattered right sneaker.

Video captured the assailant returning to the scene, retrieving his hat and delivering one last, brutal kick to the 38-year-old man before walking away. Police said the thief fled the scene with unspecified items.

“Nobody did anything. He lay there for about 10 minutes,” Alabdi said of the victim. “I was the one who called the cops.”

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition with trauma to his head and neck and was reportedly in a coma by late Monday, the New York Daily News reported.

The attacker is described as being 5-foot-7, 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray baseball cap, red coat with a fur-lined hood and white sneakers. NYPD Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

Pretty clear image of the perks face. Hope there is some nice Street Justice before he gets picked up. The best part is you just know he's going to get ratted out by one of his homies looking for the 2500 payoff

"Nobody did anything." Not true. I'm sure many pics were snapped by bystanders followed by a wave of tweets. #themanwithoneredshoe
