Police in New York City have released surveillance video showing a man randomly sucker-punching a woman crossing the street in Brooklyn earlier this month.
According to the NYPD, the violent and unprovoked attack took place at 12.10pm noon on March 9 in the area of Nostrand Avenue and Crown Street.
The video shows the victim, identified only as a 27-year-old woman, crossing the street while talking on her cellphone.
As she reaches the sidewalk, a man slowly walks up to the pedestrian in total silence and takes a wild swing at her.
The woman collapses to the ground on impact, after which her attacker casts a glance at her and calmly walks away with his hands in his pockets.
The woman, who has not been named, drove herself to a local hospital to be treated for a head injury.
