A man deemed incompetent to stand trial in a child abuse case is facing a federal gun charge. Michael Prudhomme faced charges in 2017 after a one-year-old he was watching was hospitalized with severe scalding burns.

A district court judge ruled Prudhomme was not mentally competent to proceed in the case. Under federal law, that prohibits him from having a gun. A criminal complaint states last year, Prudhomme sold a handgun to an undercover ATF agent for $600.
A one-year-old boy rushed to ICU will never be the same after scalding injuries peeled off his skin.

18-year-old Michael Prudhomme is charged with child abuse with great bodily harm.

The child’s mom said Prudhomme was caring for the baby at an apartment near Central and Western Skies.

The boy was rushed to Lovelace Women’s Hospital with severe burns to his face, scalp and neck in November.

Police say when they tried to question Prudhomme, he said he was going to park the car, but took off instead.
The report states, “Forced immersion of this child’s head under hot flowing liquid lead to extensive burns that are excruciatingly painful and will likely leave permanent scarring.”

.. where the medical team reported that he had severe and extensive wounds to his scalp, forehead, ears, behind the ears and neck. There was bruising under the toddler’s jaw, right cheek and forehead and he also had a broken wrist.
Witnesses at the apartment told police that Prudhomme gave the child a bath, and when he rubbed him with a towel afterward the baby’s skin started peeling off.
At one point while the child was hospitalized, his swelling became so profound that he had to be moved to the pediatric intensive care unit because of concerns that his airway could be compromised, according to the complaint.
The child’s mother said she had left her son in Prudhomme’s sole care at an apartment where they were staying that morning and then went to work. He started texting her about four hours later, saying that the child was injured, according to the complaint.
Of course she was at work.. aren’t they always..
Pretrial defendant Michael Prudhomme, facing a child abuse charge, allegedly allowed his GPS unit battery to die in October as well. Currently, he is still on the run from police.

Further, pretrial defendant Daniel Kessler, charged with attempted murder, was on the run for three weeks after he removed his tracking unit.

He certainly looks like he has the IQ of a wet fart. Ugly as a wet fart too. He knew what he was doing tho. And he should do his time.

“...allowed his GPS unit battery to die”

HE didn’t “allow” the battery to die; the agency with responsibility for him did. Perhaps they’ll reconsider their GPS battery provider contract and pony up for some copper tops. But first...every battery manufacturer in the country can submit bids; a bipartisan panel will consider the bids; budget increases will be requested; blah blah red tape blah; yay we finally got the new battery contract! Oh but in the interim a bunch of really bad guys’ GPS batteries died and they committed heinous crimes? Whoopsies.
