A man is behind bars after two child victims came forward to their mother about years of abuse.
According to court documents, 33 -year-old Anthony Xavier Ponce has been identified as the man accused, but it is not clear what his relationship to the children is.
The affidavit we received states the mother realized her 9-year-old son had scratches and a bruise on his face in February.
The child told his mother the scratches were from school but when she contacted the school, it claimed it had no knowledge of an incident.
Officials say CPS investigators went to the families home at a later date, both 9-year-old and the 12-year-old boy denied any abuse.
However, once officials left, the mother was told by both boys Ponce had been abusing them for several years.
Court documents say Ponce "coached" the children into what to say when questioned about the injuries.
The children said they wanted to tell their mother "out of fear the defendant would kill one of them," the boys said they followed his coaching on what to say when asked about their injuries, according to the affidavit.
Both victims told officials Ponce hit them on the head with a hammer, beat them with extension and charging cables and punched them in the stomach.
The 12-year-old boy said his brother was once forced to lay naked in the cold, wet grass while being scratched by dogs.
Afterward, according to the affidavit, Ponce would turn on the water hose and spray it in the child's face, keeping him from breathing.
Court documents also state of another time, when Ponce hit the 12-year-old in the head with a metal pole, causing it to "swell and become deformed."
After forensic exams, officials were able to determine there was enough evidence for physical abuse.
