A Williamsport man is accused of giving a 6-year-old girl a sexually transmitted disease.

Daniel Prieto, 38, was declared a danger to the community by District Judge Christian D. Frey, who committed him to the Lycoming County Prison without bail.

The city police affidavit states Prieto admitted he had sexual relations with the girl multiple times when they were alone including in late January when he also claimed he had her perform oral sex on him.

The victim, during a child advocacy center interview, said Prieto told her “to keep a secret” and he would be in trouble if she told, the affidavit states.

Police initiated their investigation on Feb. 8 when they responded to a missing juvenile report. The girl was found 90 minutes later.

The mother, while accompanying her daughter for an interview, revealed she discovered in early February she had contacted gonorrhea and her daughter had tested positive for the same disease, the affidavit states.

The mother claimed the only sexual contact she had in several years was with Prieto, police said they were told.

Prieto is charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and corruption of minors.

How did the mom discover she AND her daughter had gonorrhea? Had to be through doctor, right? Wouldn't a doctor report that to authorities immediately? I find it suspicious that mom waited to share this "discovery" with police until her daughter was gonna be interviewed by them for a seperate matter. Like she feels it will come during the interview and is now trying to save her own ass. I hope I'm wrong.

@Fives My Charm So Mom and daughter both found out about the std during the interview and investigation?
Confused.
Also, who contacted Gonnorrhea and invited them?
@SickSadWorld .. The two different occurrences were close together time wise.. Mom and daughter found out early February.. Her statement to police were in early February as well.. Not the same time just within a short time period of one another

The doctor could have reported the child's gonorrhea to the state and after a visit to the home a forensic interview was conducted with the child.

If the man was no longer in the home or has access to the child and there were no other concerns about the home the child would not be removed from the mother's care.

So the doctor wouldn't alert authorities right away and have them make contact before they leave? That sounds irresponsible as hell to let her leave and possibly end up in danger again. Especially since they supposedly found out about the std at the same time. Idk that shit sounds off to me..

@Sugar Cookie apologies from me too if I misunderstood. It was the "did i" at the end of your comment that made YOU seem defensive, which wasnt the first time I got that sort of response from you. Its all good on my end.

Usually when I read these stories involving child molestation, for example when a teacher becomes aware of some sort of sexual abuse, it seems authorities are alerted and the parents need to address things immediately before the day ends. So yes, I thought police and/or cps would show up same day. The authorities finding out for the first time because mom informs them as theyre dealing with a seperate matter regarding the child was strange to me.

@rottenBANANAReRe

A child can be removed immediately and placed into an emergency foster home and a conference must be held in 72 hours (Might vary from state to state). If the child is considered at risk they are placed into a regular foster home.

Unless the mother disclosed her medical information (std result) the state agency would have never known. Unlike a drug test of psych eval. I have never heard of an std test being ordered on a mother.

I will make the leap that if there is a criminal investigation than it could be ordered.

The only conclusion I would draw is that mom is cooperating and they feel she did not knowingly place the child in any danger.
