A Russian man has been accused of stabbing his heavily pregnant wife to death after he was asked to stop smoking because his cigarettes were bad for the baby.
Petr Murskov knifed Olga Murskova eight times at their home, it is claimed.
The 30-year-old is said to have flown into a drunken rage late at night after his teenage stepdaughter asked him to stop smoking in the flat and reminded him the habit was harmful to babies.
'He [Murskov] went mad after being asked not to smoke and attacked Olga's daughter, trying to beat her up, but Olga stepped in and he attacked her instead.'
Reports say Murskov grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed 36-year-old Olga, who was seven months pregnant, to death. He allegedly stabbed her in the stomach eight times, and in her chest and neck.
Olga's daughter ran out of the flat to the stairwell calling for help and soon led neighbours to the scene.
They reportedly found Olga lying on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood and called the emergency services.
The paramedics arrived only to confirm that both Olga and her unborn child had died.
The couple married several months ago. The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison if found guilty. The investigation is ongoing.
