A Brazilian man, who had just been released from prison for sexually assaulting his sister-in-law, is now being hunted for the deadly stabbing of his 13-year-old daughter.
Horacio Nazareno Lucas, 28, was arrested on June for the 2012 sexual assault of his mentally-ill sister-in-law.
As police in the small town of Mailasque were escorting him to jail, his daughter Leticia Tanzi Lucas broke her silence and told officers about how she too allegedly suffered at his hands.
On Wednesday morning he tried to get his daughter to recant her story, but when she refused he stabbed her to death in front of his six-year-old son and escaped the family home.
Lucas flew into a rage and beat his wife, striking her in the nose. The accused sex offender tried grabbing her but she managed to flee the home and sought help from a neighbor.
A police report detailed how Lucas then took his six-year-old son and locked him in a room, and then repeatedly stabbed his daughter in the same room before fleeing.
The young boy stepped outside the home and alerted a police cruiser that was on its way to investigate a separate domestic violence incident in the same community.
Paramedics transported the wounded girl to a hospital where she died.
