Former Pro Bowl tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. allegedly kidnapped and raped women ages 54 and 59 this spring, and attempted to rape two elderly women this month, according to the criminal complaint filed by San Diego County prosecutors.
Winslow Jr. was arrested Thursday by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for the second time in eight days. He faces nine charges, including two counts of rape, two counts of kidnapping with the intent to commit rape, one count of forcible sodomy and two counts of residential burglary, among others.
Winslow was booked into Vista Detention Facility a little after 8 p.m. Thursday, according to online records. He was scheduled to be arraigned in North County Superior Court on Friday.
The complaint includes the following allegations of rape and forced oral copulation of a 54-year-old woman in March; kidnap, rape and sodomy of a 59-year-old woman in May; indecent exposure in May; burglary with the intent to rape a 71-year-old woman in June; burglary with the intent to rape an 86-year-old woman also in June.
Winslow's spokesperson, Denise White, declined comment when reached by USA TODAY Sports on Thursday. A message left with his lawyer, Brian Watkins, was not immediately returned Friday.
The son of Football Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow was arrested and briefly jailed June 7 in connection with a suspected burglary at a mobile home park when a neighbor reported seeing him inside a nearby trailer.
When the neighbor asked what Winslow was doing there, he said he was looking for his big red dog Clifford.
A spokesperson for Winslow later said he was just being "sarcastic."
Winslow left, but was later picked up by officers and spent several hours in jail before being released on $50,000 bond.
The sixth overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft, Winslow played for four teams in nine seasons. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007 as a member of the Cleveland Browns, when he caught 82 passes for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns.
Winslow grew up in San Diego, where his father gained fame as a key member of the renowned "Air Coryell" era of the Chargers in the late 1970s and early to mid-1980s. The younger Winslow attended Patrick Henry and Scripps Ranch high schools before going to the University of Miami.
