A woman in Lancaster is facing charges after a video of her kicking and stomping a dog on her front porch made rounds on social media.
Ashley Gaston, 28, is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, endangering the welfare of children, and corruption of minors.
An officer was dispatched for a report of a woman on her front porch kicking a dog.
The officer responded to the residence and spoke with Gaston. Gaston denied kicking the dog and told the officer that the dog had bitten her son and that she took the dog outside and hit it on the head once, police said.
The officer did not see any bite injuries on Gaston’s son or any injuries to the dog, police said.
At around 7 p.m. Friday, a video was shared on social media showing a woman on the front porch of the residence “repeatedly kicking and stomping on a dog,” police said. The woman was then seen going inside the residence, returning with a child, and encouraging the child to kick the dog.
“The child kicked the dog at the woman’s encouragement,” according to the police report.
An official close to the investigation confirmed the woman in the video is Gaston. The official also confirmed the authenticity of the video making rounds on social media.
Officers returned to the residence and took custody of the dog, a 14 to 18-month old Terrier named Trigger. Trigger was taken to Lancaster Pet Emergency Treatment and Specialities, where it was determined he had bruised lungs. A more thorough forensic examination will be administered in Philadelphia.
The woman also encouraged a child to kick and stomp the dog, police said.
