Jacob Weesner

A Council Bluffs man has been charged with multiple counts of child endangerment after his 4-month-old child suffered brain damage.

Jacob Weesner, 23, was charged with one count of child endangerment on Nov. 6, but a second warrant was issued Wednesday charging him with suspicion of multiple acts of child endangerment, neglect or abandonment of a dependant person and willful injury.

An affidavit in support of the warrant stated Weesner's 4-month-old daughter was transported on Nov. 4. The affidavit indicated Weesner and his daughter were at home and she fell off the bed and was unresponsive. (It's either the bed or the bathtub.)

Medical staff told Council Bluffs police detectives that the girl was bleeding from two different spots on the brain, and the injuries were not consistent with a fall from the bed.

The child was transported to Children's Hospital in Omaha, and its staff also said the injuries were not consistent with falling off the bed, and she had two detached retinas. The doctors said the injuries were consistent with a baby who had been shaken.

The 4-month-old also was placed on a feeding tube because she suffered permanent brain damage and the inability to suck or swallow on her own. Reports indicated she also suffered a fracture to her right femur, seizures and two fractured ribs.

Detectives interviewed Weesner on Nov. 5, according to the affidavit, and he allegedly admitted to shaking his child "between two and six times." (during a span of three weeks)

It's so painful to read the damage that was inflicted upon that infant. "Detached retinas" - That's just plain awful.

Who in the their right mind would live a 4 month old with that ugly pieceofshit???

I want to bash his brains in!

Rest easy little one...be well.

Or the couch. Goddamnit, it's like you can't even have any furniture anymore!! Interior decorating is about to experience a STEEP decline.

People are idiots. Your children get hurt because your hurt them. It's not the fault of the furniture they land on.

He didn't just shake her once in frustration (quite obviously that would be bad enough) but he kept doing until the damage was horrendous!!

God Bless you baby girl.
