Those photos and videos, described in documents filed Tuesday in Tulsa County District Court, are part of the state’s argument that Jacob Krey Davis, 18, and Corbin Allen West, 17, should be tried as adults instead of youthful offenders.
Davis and West were charged last month with first-degree rape after investigators allege that the girl, unconscious from alcohol consumption, was sexually assaulted and then dropped off in the front yard of one of Davis’ friends.
While examining the phones and social media accounts of Davis and West, investigators allegedly encountered the disturbing photos and videos, in addition to several videos that “appear to show West recording (two) minors engaged in a sex act,” court records state.
Court records state that the images discovered include racial slurs, depictions of the Ku Klux Klan and jokes about killing African-Americans.
One video allegedly shows West holding a high-powered rifle, stating that he is “’outside hunting some negroes,’” the documents state.
An image allegedly found on West’s phone contains a statement about sodomizing women.
A number of the videos and images show Davis and West “torturing and killing animals,” according to the documents.
In one video, an opossum is seen with a rope around its neck being beaten with a baseball bat, court records state. In another, Davis allegedly shoots a cat 15 times after West stomps on it.
Another video allegedly shows Davis forcing a cigarette into a dog’s nostrils.
The videos and photos “illustrate that (Davis) is not just capable of extreme violence, but that he enjoys it,” prosecutors wrote in court documents.
Prosecutors wrote that the chance of Davis succeeding in the youthful offender system is “laughable.” They cited West’s “violent nature and depravity” as reason for him to be tried as an adult.
Davis has attended Edison Preparatory School but was not enrolled as of Thursday, according to Emma Garrett Nelson, Tulsa Public Schools spokeswoman.
West already had been suspended from Jenks High School for the remainder of the academic year for allegedly groping several girls at the school, according to court records.
