This is the result of compiling information from the past 20 years. The Houston Chronicle took on the task eschewed by The Southern Baptist Convention and the database (searchable) is located here. It is not limited to the State of Texas.

This all harkens back to the years 2008 to 2012 when two perverted brothers, Joshua and Jordan Earls, operating out of Arapaho Road Baptist Church in Garland as youth minister and youth minister volunteer. They were sentenced to 12 and 15 years in prison respectively. Both were convicted on charges on child pornography after grooming teenagers and convincing them to send explicit pictures and videos. The report found at least 8 Southern Baptist workers with ties to N Texas.

Despite 35 pastors, workers, and volunteers exhibiting predatory behavior they were still able to find work at churches. High levels of The SBC were accused of concealing of mishandling abuse accusations. About 10 years ago some victims began calling for a database. When they were ignored by SBC two newspapers stepped up and got it done.

I think, quite sadly, that when you look at the stats of any organization that has historically regularly brought adults and children into close contact with people that weren't family members there are going to be higher numbers of abuse cases. Churches have historically been a culprit. Catholics definitely got hit first but I'd almost expect similar numbers in other religions. I hate that it's the case, but this story did not surprise me.

Just about every religion, faith, or secular organization where adults are in a place of authority over children have had, or will have child sexual abuse to one degree or another. Even the Boy Scouts about 25 years ago had a big scandal.
