A 17-year-old Chicago boy accused of shooting dead a transgender woman he had a sexual relationship with has been charged with first-degree murder.
Tremon Hill, a student-athlete at Phillips High School and father-of-one, was ordered to be held without bail Sunday for the August shooting of 24-year-old transgender escort Dejanay Stanton.
Text messages between Hill and Stanton revealed their sexual relationship began in July, until Hill expressed that he no longer wanted to have sex with Stanton because she was transgender and their relationship had caused him to become suicidal.
The messages show that Hill allegedly lured Stanton to where she was found shot in the head and left on the ground to die outside her car.
The text messages show Stanton and Hill met online in July when he told her he was 18 and wanted to have sex with her, Assistant State’s Attorney Britt Steinberg told the court.
Police say between July 22 and her August 30 murder, the pair had exchanged 400 messages.
After Hill expressed that he no longer wanted to have sex with a transgender person, he urged Stanton to delete photos of him from her phone.
On August 12, Hill told Stanton that he was having suicidal thoughts since they had last met. They then arranged their August 30 meeting.
On the morning of her killing, Stanton received a text from Hill asking her to meet him in a parking lot.
According to Steinberg, Hill shot Stanton in the head just after 11am and left her lying on the ground next to her car.
Hill is being charged as an adult and if convicted faces a life sentence.
