Brayden Berkshire, 18, faces charges of reckless homicide and obstruction of justice in the death of 18-year-old Nathaniel Joe Hopper, a Miami County Sheriff’s Office official tells PEOPLE.
Hopper was a former student at Logansport High School, where Berkshire is a senior, but it was unclear how they knew each other.
According to the sheriff’s official, deputies responded to a 911 call Sunday night made from Hopper’s home reporting a shooting. When they arrived, they found Hopper dead.
The following day, through their investigation, authorities arrested Berkshire. She was released from Miami County jail on bond, according to the official.
While Berkshire is out on bond, it is unclear whether she has retained an attorney. She has not entered a plea.
