A homeless Westchester County man beat and stabbed a family dog to death — and then tried to burn the carcass in a backyard fire pit, prosecutors said.
Ian De Los Reyes, 33, was arraigned Monday for last month’s gruesome slaughter of the black Labrador retriever inside a quiet suburban home in Greenburgh.
Authorities said De Los Reyes may have been crashing at the house on July 13 when homeowner Danilo Tolentino called police to report the incident, but the relationship between the two is unclear.
The dog belonged to Tolentino’s adult daughter, who was out of town at the time, police said.
In a bizarre twist, Tolentino himself was charged with tampering with evidence when cops found out he tried clean up the mess where the dog was killed — and hit with additional drug charges when officers found he was holding methamphetamine.
