Homeless 1YO Dies On Bus Bench Near LAX

It is a crime that any infant has to live on the street.

The baby, a 1-year-old girl, died due to cardiac arrest near the intersection of South Sepulveda and Century boulevards at about 10 a.m., according to Los Angeles Police Department Detective Borihan.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Brian Humphrey said the initial call was made at 9:37 a.m., though the relationship of the caller to the child is unknown.

The caller attempted CPR until the LAFD arrived to take over, but they declared the person dead.

KFI reporter Steve Gregory said on X, formerly Twitter, that “the child died on a bus bench,” adding that “the infant, her sister, and mother [are] all homeless.”

The mother is being interviewed by detectives, while the other child is in the custody of the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services.

children should never ever have to live on the street.... unfortunately whole families lost everything due to lost of their employment (factories closing, self check outs so less employees needed etc) and due to high rents were unable to find new homes ... yes most of them qualified for e.i. (employment insurence?? ) but the waiting period , less income etc put them behind in their rent and as there is a big shortage of available units and higher rental cost most landlords won't give anyone a break and they end up on the street even if one or both parents have a part time or lower wages on the jobs they were lucky to get but wouldn't cover the price of a rental and food prices that also skyrocketed in the past couple of years .... it is awful when it comes to what you can afford, a home or food but not both
