A 27-year-old man has been charged after allegedly trying to enter a teenage girl's home without permission Monday afternoon, police said.
Investigators allege David Roberts approached the teen, who had been returning from a bus stop, as she walked to her front door in the 14000 block of Arcola.
He followed the girl onto the porch, asked if her parents were home, then followed her into the house, authorities said in a statement.
He was confronted inside by the girl's father, who had been sitting in the living room, police said.
Roberts then fled from the house and jumped over a fence and into a backyard, where he hid. The girl's father, her brother and a neighbor pursued the man, according to officials.
Authorities said the girl and her father called 911 to report the incident and gave police the man's approximate location.
Officers arrived, found the suspect hiding in a nearby yard.
