A Greenville man who allegedly took sexually explicit photos of a 2-year-old has been indicted on federal charges.
Steven James King, 52, originally faced state charges when he was arrested in February hiding in his basement.
He now faces two federal charges of sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of child pornography, according to an indictment unsealed
“Specifically, the defendant used a cell phone camera to take pictures of a two-year-old child to produce images that depicted and attempted to depict the lascivious exhibition of the child’s public area,” Alexis Sanford, an assistant U.S. attorney, wrote in the indictment.
She said the incidents occurred on Sept. 15 and Dec. 19.
King is also accused of possession of child pornography that was allegedly found on his cell phone, 21 compact discs, and printed images. The items were seized when police used a search warrant at his Greenville home on Feb. 13, court records said.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided information to the state police Computer Crimes Unit which led to the investigation and King’s arrest.
