Fox 5 Reporter Charged With Sexually Assaulting Girl, 4
WYCKOFF, N.J. (CBS 2/AP) – Fox 5 News reporter Charles Leaf has been arrested in New Jersey on sex assault charges.

Leaf, 40, a general assignment and investigative reporter, was arrested on three counts of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child at his home in Wyckoff, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

He is being held on $250,000 bail. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said the victim, a 4-year-old girl, was an acquaintance of Leaf’s and was assaulted inside his home.

Leaf was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Leaf was also ordered to surrender his passport and have no contact with the victim.

The arrest stemmed from an investigation between the prosecutor’s office Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit and the Wyckoff Police Department.

Leaf’s arraignment is scheduled for November 4.

250k bond sounds like they got the skinny on him. I don't think this perv will be getting out any time soon. I hope he'll like his stay with the boys in the pen. I think he looks like a virgin just what they like.

This happens to be the news station I watch every day. There is like NO stories on this. I have been trying to find out more and it's been frustrating as hell. Didn't realize the guy lived so close. It just seems fishy that there isn't more out there on this story. Guess I will have to wait for his court date. I hope it isn't true but if it is I hope the guy gets thrown in general population and gets what he deserves.
I did see one other article that mentioned he may have penetrated this young girl and that he was jerking off in front of her on several occasions. They say this happened at his house but no idea why this little girl was at his house.
Proves again you never know what a pedo looks like and he could very well be your neighbor.

A sister of troubled Fox 5 reporter Charles Leaf says the Emmy-award winning newsman has molested young girls before.

Susan Gaudet told the Daily News her younger brother, busted Thursday on sex assault charges, abused two of his relatives in the 1980s.

"I'd like to see them put him away for the rest of his life," fumed Gaudet, one of Leaf's three sisters, from Jacksonville, N.C. "I am so full of rage. If I had the opportunity to spit in his face and hurt him, I would do it."
[...]

It was 25 years ago when Gaudet found out Leaf abused two young female relatives multiple times at their grandparents' home in Trucksville, Pa.

The abuse started when Leaf was just 9years old and his first victim was 3, Gaudet said.

Over the next six years, Leaf repeatedly molested the girl and her sister, who is two years younger, said Gaudet, 53.

Leaf was eventually confronted, and he immediately confessed to the sordid acts, Gaudet said.

"He said, 'Mom, I did it,'" Gaudet recalled. "Just like that. And he's never denied it. He probably wanted help, but he never got it."

Leaf was never prosecuted, Gaudet said. The incident divided the family, but Leaf's sister started talking to him again in recent years.

She remained concerned that he might molest another young girl.

"He continually reassured me we had nothing to worry about," said Gaudet, a mother of two. "I kind of resolved myself to the fact that this was something in the past, but now we know it wasn't."

Gaudet said she revealed her brother's dark past to his wife, Monika, for the first time on Friday. The couple has a 7-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter.

"She said, 'I don't know what to believe. I don't know what to do,'" Gaudet recounted.

In recent years, Leaf, an ex-Marine who has won two Emmy Awards, battled depression and often threatened suicide, his sister said.

"He's tormented," Gaudet said. "Little did we know how tormented he really was."

So he molested a 4-year old and HAS a 4-year old... Maybe saying this child was an "acquaintance" is just a method to keep the identity of the real victim a secret for now.

I'd like to think someone couldn't do this to their own child, but I know we all read this site too much to know the truth...

An award-winning Fox 5 reporter accused of child sexual assault was charged Tuesday with an additional count of possession of child pornography.

Charles Leaf’s computer was seized from his home when he was arrested last month on charges that he sexually abused a 4-year-old girl, Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor Kenneth Ralph said at a court hearing in Hackensack.

A forensic analysis of the computer revealed that Leaf had child-pornography images, Ralph said.

Leaf, 40, was also denied a reduction of his bail, which now stands at $270,000 after the new charge was filed
[...]

Judge Liliana S. DeAvila-Silebi refused to cut the bail, saying she was concerned that Leaf has three drivers’ licenses in three different states.

She also said Leaf’s plan to live in a local hotel was unacceptable and that he needs to come up with a firm address.

Venturi said he will arrange within a few days for his client to live with friends.

DeAvila-Silebi, however, said that while many people wrote letters in support of Leaf, none was willing to put up their homes to help him post bail.

“And the fact that he could not find a friend to live with… I have to take all these factors into account,” she said.

Unless Leaf manages to post the $270,000 bail, he will remain at the Bergen County Jail until another bail hearing is held.

Charles Leaf to wife: ‘Tell the kids I love them’ after child sex assault conviction
“Tell the kids I love them, Monica,” Charles Leaf shouted to his wife as Bergen County Sheriff’s officers led him from a Hackensack courtroom moments after jurors this afternoon convicted the Emmy-winning former Fox 5 investigative reporter of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl and of possessing child pornography on his home computer in Wyckoff.
Leaf, 44, briefly flinched, the corners of his mouth turning down tightly, as jurors returned the decisions following a little more than five hours of deliberations over two days.

Monica Leaf, who sat in the gallery throughout the entire trial, put her head down.

Superior Court Judge James J. Guida revoked Leaf’s bail over the protests of defense attorney Brian Neary, and set a June 6 sentencing date. Bergen County Sheriff’s officers then handcuffed Leaf and took him to the Bergen County Jail.

“It was a long process to get through this trial. And the trial itself was quite lengthy,” Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor Kenneth Ralph told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “The state’s evidence was thoroughly reviewed and tested.

“We appreciate the time and effort the jury put in at arriving at this fair and just verdict.”

Defense attorney Emile Lisboa, in turn, told CLIFFVIEW PILOT: “It’s a scary day when you have a witness who says it didn’t happen, and a tape that’s erased, and the defendant is convicted anyway.”

— A former New York City television reporter has been sentenced to 26 years in prison after being found guilty on several charges including the sexual assault of a 4-year-old girl at his home in New Jersey.
A judge in state Superior Court in Hackensack on Friday handed down the sentence to former Fox 5 reporter Charles Leaf

An emotional Leaf maintained his innocence as he spoke for more than 20 minutes during the hearing.

In February a jury found him guilty on multiple counts including sex assault, child endangerment and possession of child pornography.

On the witness stand, the now 8-year-old girl he was accused of molesting withdrew her
accusations.

Leaf's father-in-law testified that he, not Leaf, had viewed porn on Leaf's computer

What a crazy story. In-laws admitting they had child porn, not him?
Victims withdrawing their previous accusations?
His daughter was 4yo at the time of the arrest. The victim is now 8, four years later?
I wonder if wifey got dear old dad to testify as well as convincing her daughter that this never happened?
Either way, if the evidence showed his guilt, I'm glad to know he's doin' his time for his crime.

So bizarre! I absolutely don't get it. So he's a certified pedo, but yet the father in law is saying that he was the one who was looking at the cp?! Why would he say that?! Why would the little girl withdraw her claims!? All types of screwy!

it is quite an odd story...i dont doubt he is guilty though....4 year olds dont just make something like that up unless someone told them to

Wow. So I did a search on here for a story I was going to post for "Leaf". This story popped up and is pretty crazy. I did find two updates. I assume the guys is still in prison.
