Ex-frat president dodges jail in alleged rape, accuser outraged

DALLAS — A Texas judge on Monday accepted a plea bargain allowing a former Baylor University student accused of raping a woman at a fraternity party to avoid serving jail time, marking at least the third time the judge has approved probation for men accused of sexually assaulting Baylor students.

Judge Ralph Strother’s decision to accept the plea deal sparked outrage from the woman who accused Jacob Walter Anderson of repeatedly raping her. The woman says she was plied with a drink of punch at the party in 2016 and became disoriented. Anderson, the woman said, led her behind a tent and assaulted her while she was gagged and choked.

“He stole my body, virginity and power over my body,” the woman said in court, according to a family spokesman.

Anderson had been indicted on sexual assault charges and the deal allowed him to plead no contest to a lesser charge of unlawful restraint. A no contest plea means a person does not admit guilt, but will offer no defense. Anderson was expelled from Baylor after a university investigation.

and somewhere at this party he couldn't have found a woman who would be down for some kinky tent sex?

Hey Judge... Disney called, they want their Dumbo ears back! They said you misrepresented them and they don't like the way it looks.

Anderson left Baylor because of the incident and later enrolled at UTD. He is from Garland.

More than 5,000 people have signed an online petition asking for him to be banned from that campus.

I hope it works and that he won't be able to attend any university or even community college. If the criminal justice system refuses to punish him, the citizens will have to do it. Otherwise, he'll be just like those bad cops who just move to another town.

“There is nothing more important at UT Dallas than the safety and security of our students,” UT Dallas President Richard Benson said in a statement posted to the school’s social media accounts. “Two years ago we admitted a student without knowing their legal history.

“Based on recent court action and other information over the last several days, that student will not participate in UTD commencement activities, will not attend UT Dallas graduate school and will not be present on campus as a student or as a guest. I am grateful to the UT Dallas students, faculty and other community members who have shared their concerns, disappointment, and outrage over this student’s presence on our campus.”

The UT Dallas directory showed Anderson as a senior studying finance in the School of Management.

Despite not being able to participate in commencement or graduate school, WFAA was told that he will still receive a degree.

Anderson's online profile for BDRC Partners, where he works as a Project Coordinator, states he's also in the process of attaining a real estate license.

Earlier Wednesday, a petition calling for Anderson’s removal from UTD gained a head of steam online. It had over 20,000 signatures by the time his dismissal was announced.

“Universities claim they take the safety of the student body very seriously,” the petition reads. “If that is true, universities have a responsibility to keep potential predators off campus.”

I hope a lot of people call/email BDRC Partners to tell them about their employee! Oh wait their website is down now. I bet it's his families company.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) State District Judge Ralph Strother, who accepted a plea deal in the sexual assault case of an ex-Baylor fraternity president is receiving email threats and a petition drive is underway calling for his resignation.

On Monday Strother accepted the state’s plea agreement and sentenced Jacob Walter Anderson, 24, to three years on deferred probation, which if he completes will leave him without a criminal record.

Anderson, on Oct. 15, pleaded no contest to the charge, a third-degree felony, after Assistant District Attorney Hilary LaBorde and Anderson’s defense counsel reached a plea agreement.

In May 2016, Anderson was indicted on four counts of sexual assault in connection with an alleged rape in February 2015 in which the victim was left lying outside unconscious.

Since the sentencing Monday, Strother said, he has received a large number of emails attacking him and his family including one whose writer expressed a hope for his “premature death.”

A Care2 petition drive, started by Baylor graduate Sarah Byers, meanwhile, calls for Strother’s resignation.

As of Wednesday, the petition had more than 5,000 supporters.

“This is for the many women who ultimately do not report incidents, and for women in the future who will be afraid to report,” Byers said.

Strother, however, says he’s not going anywhere.
