Detectives are providing new details in the case against a man accused of sexually assaulting a child.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) says Jacky Wayne Bean was captured on Thursday, June 20 after a short vehicle pursuit and foot chase.

According to an arrest affidavit, the mother of an 11-year-old girl told detectives that Bean was a family friend, and on June 17 he had been trusted to take her daughter to the Sonic in Red Bank that evening.

Instead, the affidavit says Bean took the girl for a ride to the Jones Gap Road area.

Detectives say the girl told them after briefly walking around together at a property he claimed to own, Bean pushed her down and inappropriately touched her. When she began screaming, the affidavit says Bean threatened to hurt her, saying if she told anyone what he had done, that he would kill her. She told detectives that Bean also said he planned to kill himself later that evening.

The girl told detectives that she was able to talk Bean into dropping her off at the home in Soddy-Daisy, about two hours since she'd gotten into his truck. The affidavit says the girl's family and friends had been out looking for her all that time, repeatedly trying to call Bean without answer.

At the time of this incident, Bean was on probation after pleading guilty to felony reckless endangerment in a deadly Grundy County chase in 2017. Court records show Bean got probation after agreeing to testify in a separate murder trial. Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum says Bean never should have been out of jail to begin with, has a criminal history going back 15 years, and says Bean is "a monster."

Jacky Wayne Bean has now been charged with aggravated sexual battery and false imprisonment.
